Reaper Twins: Chapter 17

Bella groaned and turned over in her bed as there was a knock on the door. She had finally gone to sleep and didn’t want to get out of bed just yet. Bella assumed it was her brother at the door, wanting to get up early to do some touring, but she wasn’t ready for that yet. The knock came again and Bella held her breath, she hoped that if she stayed silent enough Marco would get the hint and leave her alone. Bella didn’t hear anything for a few seconds and decided that Marco had left. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath of relief.

“Bella, Love, you have to open the door,” Klaus’s voice came through the other side of the door. Bella’s eyes shot open in surprise. She sat up on the bed and stared at the door, her mind was processing wondering if it was really Klaus at the door or just her imagination playing a trick on her. Bella jumped out of the bed and moved to the door quicker than anyone could see. She opened the door and was stunned to see that Klaus was standing in front of her. Bella stood in front of Klaus not making a movement, too surprised to move. “You’re not going to say anything to the boyfriend who flew to a different country just to see you?”

Bella’s smile stretched across her face as she threw her arms around Klaus hugging him tightly, his arms wrapped around her, as he was happy to have her back in his arms. After a few minutes Bella pulled back, “Not that I’m not completely happy to see you, but what are you doing here?”

“Your brother called last night he mentioned that you were done with your mission, and that you would be in Italy for two more days, and he mentioned it would be a good idea to come and see you,” Klaus said with a smile, “And I might’ve brought Rebekah and Henrik to keep your brother company. I want you for myself in Italy.”

Bella laughed her smile never leaving her face, she grabbed Klaus’s hand and led him inside her room, she kicked the door shut behind her. Hearing the clicking sound of the door she moved and kissed Klaus. Being separated for days everything they had missed was poured into the kiss. Finally pulling apart for air, Bella rested her head on Klaus’s chest taking in a deep breath of his scent and closing her eyes finally feeling she could relax completely with Klaus around.

“I hate the Volturi,” Bella murmured into Klaus’s chest.

Klaus chuckled, “Everybody hates them love they’re not the most likeable group in the supernatural world.”

“They were horrible, especially Aro,” Bella said with a sigh, “Do we have plans today?”

“No, your brother and my siblings left when we got here, our rooms are down the hall,” Klaus said.

Bella nodded and took Klaus’s hand and led him to her bed, “I’m tired, and I haven’t been able to sleep in peace since we arrived at Italy, do you mind if I get a few more hours of sleep.”

“Not at all, I haven’t slept either, mind if I join you?” Klaus asked with a smirk knowing Bella would already say yes, but it was just polite to ask.

“Of course not,” Bella said with a smile as plopped down on the bed patting the area beside her for Klaus. Taking off his shoes and jacket Klaus got into the bed beside Bella and pulled her to him.

Bella and Klaus finally emerged from the bedroom ready to go out and enjoy Italy together. Klaus had his arm wrapped around Bella’s waist holding her closely to him as they walked out of the hotel together.

“Where are we going?” Bella asked Klaus as he led her through the streets.

“I thought we’d do some walking around the city, it’s been a while since I’ve been in Italy,” Klaus replied.

“Really? When was the last time you came?” Bella asked as she took in the beauty of Italy.

“A few hundred years,” Klaus said with a shrug, “I believe the last time I was here, I came with Kol, and together we might’ve gotten into a bit of trouble. I believe that was when I first met the Volturi guard. They believed Kol and I were newborns running around in the city, close to exposing vampires to the world.”

“Did you end up killing them,” Bella asked looking up at Klaus.

“Some of them yes, we left the two twins, Jane and Alec I believe, alive we wanted them to replay a message to their leaders. We were stronger and older, we could kill them if we wanted to do so,” Klaus said with a smirk replaying the memory in his head.

“Have you met them? The three kings?” Bella asked with a tone full of curiosity.

“I have a few times, the first time I was with Kol, and the second I was by myself. They tried to ambush me when I was alone, I ended up killing most of their guard again. Aro was not happy, but he learned not to anger me,” Klaus said with a smirk, he enjoyed people fearing him.

“I think everyone who’s ever been around you knows not to get you angry,” Bella said with smirk, “Although, I do enjoy seeing you angry.”

Klaus chuckled, “Of course you would, come on, let’s get you something to eat.”

“But I’m not hungry,” Bella argued.

Klaus laughed, “Doesn’t matter, you probably weren’t eating well with the Volturi, you need actual food, so I’m taking you to eat, and since Italian meals are one of your favorites, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a good restaurant around here.”

Bella smiled and let Klaus lead her to a nearby restaurant. He compelled the waitress to give them a seat in the balcony. “You know, these seats were reserved.” Bella whispered to Klaus as the climbed the stairs behind the waitress to their seats.

“I know, but they’re not anymore,” Klaus replied with a smirk, he pulled out Bella’s chair before sitting down across from Bella. He ordered Bella’s favorite wine and ordered himself a bourbon. Bella ordered a salad and a pasta while Klaus didn’t order any food.

“You know, if you want to go hunt you can, or I can give you some of my blood,” Bella said as her salad arrived. She had shared blood with Klaus before so it wasn’t strange for her to offer her blood to him.

“Such a tempting offer love, but I fed before I got to the hotel,” Klaus said with a smirk, “Tell me what was making you so anxious in Italy, you didn’t seem your normal self when we talked.”

“Aro was trying to keep Marc and me as a part of the Volturi,” Bella replied, “He ordered Jane and Alec to stay by our sides like glue while we were there. Where we went they went, only time they weren’t around was when it was just me and Marco together. If I went somewhere Alec would follow behind, it was very annoying, it took all my will power not to kill him.”

“Why was the boy following you around and not the girl?” Klaus asked suspicious towards what Alec’s intentions were for keeping so close to Bella. Bella took in a deep breath and looked around before answering, she made sure that if Klaus were to get angry, he wouldn’t have anyone to hurt.

“Aro wanted us to stay, to have a tie to the Volturi in some way, a reason to be forever loyal to them. In his mind Marc and I didn’t have anyone beside each other, so he sent the two people he felt we were most compatible with to keep close to us. Since Jane and Alec were twins they made the best option, as an extra precaution he asked that one of them make one of us fall in love with them. Jane was too much of a bitch to make Marco fall in love with her, so that left Alec to try and get me to fall in love with him,” Bella said calmly as she took another bite of her salad. She heard Klaus growl in anger, and his eyes flash a gold color, his face transformed to his hybrid face. Bella put down her fork and stared at Klaus as his anger seemed to grow. She didn’t know whether she hated the way Klaus was acting or the exact opposite. Bella reached across the table and interlocked her hand with Klaus’s she gave it a gentle squeeze and smiled when his eyes met hers.

“You know, as hard as Alec worked, his plan to get me to fall in love with him didn’t work. I’ve spent the last days in Italy just wishing you were here, I was close to killing Alec because he was keeping me from talking to you,” Bella said calmly, she smiled, “Care to change back to normal, I think the waitress would be a bit scared to see you like that.” Klaus took in a deep breath and his faced went back to normal.

“Sorry love, I don’t like the idea of someone trying to take something that I care for, I can be a bit possessive,” Klaus said as he took a sip of his bourbon.

Bella laughed, “Just a bit? You looked like you were ready to kill someone right now.” Klaus shrugged and took another drink of his bourbon, Bella laughed again and continued to eat her salad while she waited for her pasta to arrive.

Bella and Klaus walked through the crowded streets together, Bella loved the scenery and how beautiful Italy looked.

“Where are your siblings and my brother?” Bella asked Klaus as they walked into a bookstore finally growing curious as to their whereabouts.

“Last I heard from Rebekah, they had gone shopping on the other side of the city, I wanted to stay away from them,” Klaus said.

Bella laughed, and went to look through the book shelves, Klaus did the same on the other side of the store. Bella went through the different shelves of books looking for what she wanted to buy.

“Find anything you wanted to buy?” Klaus as walking up behind Bella and putting his arms around her waist.

“I did,” Bella said flashing a book in front of Klaus, “Did you find anything?”

“Nothing that caught my interest,” Klaus replied, snatching the book from Bella’s hand. It was an old book telling the history of Italy, “Why this one?”

“Why not?” Bella asked with a shrug, “Come on, I want to go pay for this.” Bella walked with Klaus to the register. She placed the book down on the counter and got her wallet out. Klaus pushed the wallet away and paid for the book.

“You know, I could’ve paid for my own book,” Bella said as they walked out of the store.

“I know you could’ve, but I wanted to pay for it, so I did,” Klaus responded as he led Bella to antique store that caught his eye.

Bella looked around, and was amazed by all the things she saw inside the store. She stepped away from Klaus and went to look around the store. Klaus watched her go before turning to look around the store. He looked around, nothing catching his attention until he got to the jewelry section of the store. There was a necklace holding a pendant which had a wolf howling in the moonlight. Flipping it over he saw a small inscription on the back. Goodnight My Love. Klaus picked the necklace up and paid for it before heading back to where Bella was now standing looking at a painting.

“I really like this painting,” Bella said as she sensed Klaus standing beside her.

Klaus smiled as he noticed the painting she was looking at, “It’s one of my paintings.”

Bella looked at Klaus with startled eyes, “Yours?”

Klaus stepped towards the painting and pointed to the bottom corner were the initials N.M. were hidden, “Niklaus Mikaelson, I painted this painting a few hundred years ago when I was in Italy. I gave it to a wealthy family that was here, my guess is that they might’ve sold it when their funds began to run low, and it ended up here.”

Bella looked back at the painting, it had a forest, and what seemed like a few shadows, but what caught Bella’s attention was the moon. It was bright and it shone down on the forest landscape. Bella reached up and took the painting down, she walked to the cashier with Klaus behind her. She handed the man the price tag, she took out the card Marco had given her, but noticed Klaus had already handed the man his card instead.

Bella glared at Klaus, “You don’t have to pay for everything.”

“I know I don’t have to, I want to,” Klaus said as he took the receipt from the man and had him deliver the painting to Bella’s hotel room so they didn’t have to carry it around all day. “Besides, it would’ve been strange to have you pay for one of my paintings, which you could just have if you asked for it.”

“You do know you just bought your own painting, I think that’s a bit stranger than me buying your painting,” Bella responded with a smile, she walked beside Klaus to where there was a performer on the street. The man was young, and had a young female partner, the man was playing a guitar while the girl was singing to the beat. Bella stood leaned against Klaus as they watched the two performers. Neither was saying a word, just enjoying the other’s company and being together.

It was on the 3rd song that Bella felt Klaus putting something around her neck. Bella reached up to see that it was a necklace. “What’s this?”

“Well, that’s a necklace,” Klaus replied with a smirk.

“I know it’s a necklace, I was meant why are you giving it to me,” Bella asked looking at the necklace.

“I liked it, and I thought it would look good on you,” Klaus said, “I bought it at the antique store when you weren’t looking, and don’t begin with me buying you things, it’s a battle you won’t win love.”

Bella nodded knowing there was no point in fighting with Klaus on this subject. Bella smiled as she looked at the necklace. She looked at the inscription on the back, and knew that somehow this necklace was meant for her.

“Thank you,” Bella said as she stood on the tips of her toes and kissed Klaus wrapping her arms around his neck as she deepened the kiss between them.

Bella and Klaus walked back to the hotel, it was nighttime, and neither had heard from their siblings yet.

“There you two are!” Rebekah exclaimed as she walked up to Klaus and Bella as they were getting into the elevator. Henrik and Marco directly behind Rebekah, the five them got into the elevator.

“What have you guys been up to?” Henrik asked.

“We’ve been around the city, walking and going into different stores,” Bella answered, “Where have you guys been.”

“We went shopping,” Rebekah said full with glee.

“More like we were being tortured,” Henrik grumbled under his breath, but everyone heard. Marco laughed and nodded along with Henrik.

“I never knew someone could waste so much money in one day,” Marco said with a laugh, “She even bought extra luggage to pack the things away for the trip back.”

Bella laughed, “Is that all you guys did today?”

“No we saw some sights, and took a bunch of pictures of random things we saw,” Henrik responded with a smile, “We were making memories.”

“We also went to see a film, but we had to leave before it was over,” Marco said with a grimace.

“What do you mean you had to leave?” Klaus asked.

“There were some scenes in the movie that we didn’t want to see, and it wasn’t really appropriate for Henrik,” Rebekah said.

Bella laughed, “That sounds like the most awkward thing in the world.”

“It was,” All three said at the same time causing Bella and Klaus to laugh.

“Anyway, there’s a light show in an hour, we’re planning on going, are you two going to come with us,” Rebekah asked.

Klaus and Bella both nodded, “Sure, but I’m wondering, where are all your bags?”

“Oh, I compelled a man to bring them all up to the hotel, and to make sure they got to my room safely,” Rebekah said, “I didn’t want to be carrying them around all day.”

“By you, you mean Marco and I right?” Henrik asked with a smirk, “Because I don’t remember you ever carrying a bag.”

Marco laughed, “Don’t anger her Henrik, we’re in a confide space, there’s no place to escape.”

Henrik laughed and Rebekah glared at Henrik and Marco. Rebekah continued to talk to Bella about all the different items she bought on her trip.

“Rebekah please do shut up,” Klaus said as the elevator chimed signalizing the end of their elevator ride.

Rebekah huffed, “I’ll never understand how you can be with someone so rude Bella.”

“Well, he’s never rude to me,” Bella replied with a grin, they all got out of the elevator and headed to their rooms to change into something more comfortable for the night.

Bella stood in Klaus’s arms as they watched the lightshow. Rebekah was off talking to a boy, and Henrik and Marco were on top of a nearby rooftop getting a better look at the light show. Bella’s phone began to vibrate in her pocket.

“Are you going to answer that,” Klaus asked as he looked down at Bella.

“I guess, it could be important,” Bella said as she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She noticed it was an unknown number. It was a picture message with a text. Bella opened up the picture first curious to know what it was. It was a picture containing Caroline and what seemed to be Klaus together under a tree kissing. Bella read the text that came with the picture.

Looks like while you were away Klaus came out to play. Found him kissing Barbie today by the Grill, should’ve kept him on a tighter leash – Damon S.

Bella showed Klaus the picture, “Bella, I didn’t get anywhere near her.” Klaus said as he looked at the photo.

“I know, look at the picture it was photo shopped,” Bella said, “And he said he saw you kissing her today, you left Mystic Falls yesterday, unless you can teleport, there’s no way you could’ve been in both places. I have to give them credit though, if they had sent this to me before you came to Italy, I would’ve believed it.”

“I’m going to rip his insides out and then light them on fire,” Klaus muttered in anger that they had been trying to get Bella to go against him.

Bella put her phone away and leaned back against Klaus, “You know, they’re not really the brightest people if they haven’t realized that three members of the original family are gone.”

“Not everyone can be smart love,” Klaus replied as he tightened his grip on Bella holding her tighter to him as the lightshow continued.
