Bella The Witch: Chapter 21
Bella smiled as for the first time she was seeing Elijah jealous. She had to keep from laughing at the glare he had on his face. “We leave in about three hours, I’d like to say goodbye to him, Eli. He did save my life after all, I think he deserves a proper goodbye from me. It’ll be only be a moment I’ll be back for you truly even notice.”
Elijah sighed his reluctance to have her go off on her own showing clearly on his face. He didn’t like the idea of having her so close to another man he didn’t really know. In the end it was her decision to make and it wasn’t something he was going to take away from her. “Just be safe, my love.”
Bella smiled widely, “I will be.” She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Elijah’s neck, she smiled wider as his hands automatically went around her waist. “I do have the ability to take care of myself, Eli. I’ll be back soon, I promise.” Bella leaned up and kissed Elijah. She got taken away by the kiss letting it grow more heated as the moments passed. She pulled away with a smile and a dazed look on her eyes.
“I umm… yeah. I should get going, I’ll be back soon, Eli.” Bella said she reached back up and kissed his cheek.
Elijah chuckled, “Be safe, my love.”
“Always,” Bella replied as she got in the car and drove away. It didn’t take her long to find her way to the Salvatore house. She got out of the car with a black gift bag in hand. Her heels clicking as she made her way towards the front door. She knocked lightly before taking a step back to allow the door to be opened.
“What are you doing here?” Elena asked as she opened the door openly glaring at Bella.
“I’m here to speak to Damon.” Bella responded simply. “Can you get him for me?”
“Why do you want to speak to Damon?” Elena questioned not budging from her spot blocking the entrance to the house.
Bella raised an eyebrow at the girl’s attitude, this wasn’t really the way she thought Elena would act. “I don’t think what I want with Damon has anything to do with you.”
“You’re absolutely right, it has nothing to do with her. Why don’t you go off and play ‘who can have the biggest temper tantrum’ with your little vamp boy toy, Elena?” Damon said, he glared at Elena until she left. A smirk made its way across his face as he looked to Bella. “And to what do I owe the pleasure of you showing up on my doorstep?”
Bella smiled, and held out the bag to him. “A gift. For saving my life and all.”
Damon raised an eyebrow and took the bag, he looked inside and pulled out a very old and expensive bottle of bourbon. “Liquor, good start.” Damon said he pulled out the book that was inside and smirked. Dracula. “Really?”
Bella smirked, “Well, I figured while you’re trying to get yourself drunk you should have a good book with you.”
“So I can use it as a coaster?” Damon questioned as he looked at the book and then to Bella.
Bella scoffed, “Of course not! Books are a valuable piece of art, you have to take care of them! Use this as a coaster and I’ll kill you. Read it, enjoy it, and then put it on your bookshelf.”
Damon chuckled, “You have to be a librarian.”
Bella rolled her eyes. “I own a bookstore. Just take care of the book, okay? I don’t want to have to drive back from New York just to kill you.”
Damon chuckled, “Will do, shortcake. I assume this is your way of saying goodbye?”
“I have to get back to my life, Damon. Some of us try to be as normal as possible, which means I have work to get back to, and I’d like to spend some time with my boyfriend without people trying to kill my family and I.” Bella said as she held out her hand to Damon. “It was nice meeting you Damon.”
Damon shook her hand, “You still owe me a drink.”
Bella smiled and shrugged, “If you’re ever in New York, I’ll buy you a drink.” Bella smiled and walked back to her car and drove back home, back to her family. Soon they would all be leaving to go back home, and they would get back to their normal routines.
Bella wiped her eyes as she and Riley were saying goodbye to each other. “I don’t get why it’s so sad.” She mumbled with a smile. “We talk every day and you’re coming to New York before Christmas.”
Riley smiled and hugged his sister. “It’s sad because we don’t get to see each other every day. I miss you when you’re gone, but you’re doing well being on your own. Better than good the way I see it. Being on your own has helped you more than you know, and I can see this entre difference with how you carry yourself. I hate not seeing you every day, but you’ve learned to be on your own. That’s something I could’ve only wished for. It’s only a few more months, come Christmas we’ll be living under the same roof again.”
Bella smiled and hugged her brother tightly. “I love you, Ry.” She said with a smile, she stepped back and wiped her eyes getting rid of the stray tears. She turned back to her car seeing Elijah leaning against it as he spoke to Victoria. “He’s great, isn’t he?”
Riley smirked, “He’s a good match for you.” Riley replied, “I guess it’s time for you to get into the car and leave. Call me when you arrive.”
Bella nodded, “Will do.” She replied as she walked towards the car in silence with Riley. Bella said her goodbyes to Victoria and hugged her before she got into the car. She waved to the two of them as she drove off.
Elijah looked over at her with concern. “Are you going to be alright?”
Bella smiled, “Of course! It’s only a few more months, but I have a feeling they’ll come to New York sooner than that.” She leaned over and kissed Elijah’s cheek. “I love you.”
Elijah smiled, “I love you.” He smiled as Bella unbuckled her seatbelt and moved to sit at his side. He put his arm around her letting her lean against him as he drove. He caught the way she inspected her bracelet and smiled as she played with every charm on it.
“How did you do it?” Bella questioned as she turned to look at him. “How did you put everything together within hours? This would take any regular person days to put together.”
Elijah smiled, “It’s simple. I’m not any regular person.”
Bella grinned, “No, you’re certainly not.” She replied with a wide grin.
Elijah smiled as Bella had fallen asleep with her head in his lap hours earlier. He pulled into her home and parked the car being sure not to do anything that could wake her up. He picked her up being careful not to wake her and walked to the front door of her home and unlocked the door as quickly as he could. He walked her up to her room and set her down on the bed. He pulled the covers over her after he removed her shoes. He kissed her head and walked out of the room. Elijah grabbed their things from the car and brought them into the house. He locked the front door behind him and headed up the stairs. He walked into Bella’s room and saw her sitting up on the bed. “Something wrong, my love?”
Bella shook her head. “I was just waiting for you to come back, Eli.” She replied quietly, she patted the bed. “Stay with me?”
Elijah smiled, “I was planning to, I just wanted to make sure everything was locked up before I joined you.”
Bella nodded she laid back down on the bed and watched as Elijah changed before joining her. She moved and snuggled up to his chest closing her eyes as she felt a wave of content wash over her as he lay next to her. “Love you, Eli.” She whispered as she was starting to fall back asleep.
Elijah smiled and kissed her head. “I love you.” He ran his hand through her hair. “Get some sleep, my love.”
Elijah opened his eyes as there was a large knocking on the front door. He knew it couldn’t be his siblings as they knew better than to knock and disturb the two of them so early in the morning. He looked over to see Bella fidgeting around on the bed, the noise obviously waking her up. Elijah leaned over and kissed her head. “I’m going to go see who it is.”
Bella sighed, “I’m going to get changed.” She mumbled into the pillow.
Elijah smiled, “I’ll be sure to make them leave so we can enjoy our day.”
“Thank you, Eli.” Bella mumbled as she shifted herself out of bed. She gently kissed Elijah before she disappeared into the bathroom and he left down the stairs.
Elijah walked to the door and noticed a human scent. It was similar to Bella’s human scent but there was something off about it.
“ISABELLA!” A woman’s shout caught Elijah off guard.
He looked up at the stairs as Bella appeared pulling a shirt down over her stomach. She looked to Elijah with wide eyes as she slowly came down the stairs. “No…” she whispered her eyes wide as she looked at the door.
“Who is it?” Elijah asked cautiously as he stepped towards Bella.
Bella looked to him and back at the door. “That’s…”
“ISABELLA MARIE SWAN! I know you’re in there!” The voice said again. “I see your car in the driveway!”
Bella began to shake with anger something Elijah took as a reaction of fear. “Bella, my love, you don’t have to open the door if you don’t want to.”
Bella shook her head. “We finished things on the beach and she needs to understand that.” Bella leaned up and kissed Elijah’s cheek. “I’ll be fine, but if I try to kill her, stop me.”
Elijah moved and leaned against the frame to the door and watched as Bella took in a deep breath before opening it. He could see out the door and he caught the sight of a women that looked remarkably similar to Bella. He noticed that by the fact that she hadn’t acknowledged him the woman didn’t know he was there.
Bella let out a breath of annoyance. “Renee.” She greeted simply.
“ISABELLA MARIE SWAN!” Renee said placing her hands on her hips and scowling at Bella. “Where have you been? I’ve been trying to get in touch with you for the last week! You can’t just keep a mother worrying. I thought something had happened to you! I was worried sick!”
“Really? You look healthy to me.” Bella said crossing her arms over her chest as she glared at the woman in front of her.
Renee glared at Bella, “That is no way to speak to your mother, Isabella.”
“I don’t have a mother.” Bella responded simply. “When have you ever been a mother to me? Renee, we’ve had this conversation before, you mean nothing to me anymore.”
Renee’s hand twitched and she lifted it with the full intention of slapping Bella. Her eyes widened as Bella’s hand wrapped around her wrist stopping the attempt. She looked to her wrist and then back to Bella with astonishment. “Bella…”
“Listen to me and this time pay good attention to what I’m about to say.” Bella said as she kept Renee’s wrist in her hand. “Don’t you ever try and hit me gain. I will have you arrested for assault, not to mention trespassing on private property if you ever try something like this again. You are not my mother, you never have be and you certainly never will. Don’t try and force yourself on me because you need something from me. This is all your fault, if you had just acted more like a mother, I wouldn’t have had to push you away. You need to get it through your head that you and I are nothing anymore. You are not my mother, you are not my friend, and you are no one to me.” Bella released Renee’s hand and took a step back her hand went to the door. “Goodbye Renee.” She paused as she was about to close the door. “Get off my property soon or I’ll call the cops.” She said as she slammed the door in her mother’s face.
Bella took in a deep breath and turned to Elijah. A smile crept onto her face as she looked at him. “Do you want breakfast?” She asked as she walked past him and towards the kitchen. “I really feel like pancakes. Actually, I want to go all out and have a big breakfast. Hopefully I’ll have everything I need here, I know Nik doesn’t have anything but coffee and hot chocolate at his house.”
“Are you feeling alright?” Elijah questioned as he walked into the kitchen after her.
Bella nodded, “I know how awful this is going to sound, but every time I yell at her I feel liberated. Enough is enough, Eli. She needs to understand that I’m no longer her daughter and she’s no longer my mother. The last thing I want in my life is her.” Bella paused and looked back to Elijah as she felt she needed to make something clear for his sake. “I would have loved for you to properly meet my dad, I know for a fact he would’ve loved you. I can’t introduce you to her because she’s nothing to me. In my mind, it would be like introducing you to a complete stranger. When you and I got together Eli, I wanted to introduce you to Ry and Vicki, because they were family. If you weren’t related to Nik, I would’ve introduced you to him too, because he’s my family as well. It would’ve been strange to introduce you to your own brother, so I didn’t. I don’t want you to think that the reason I didn’t let you answer the door was because I was embarrassed of introducing you to her.”
Elijah smiled he stepped in front of Bella and caressed her cheek. “I agree, it would’ve been strange to be introduced to my own brother. Though, when I saw him with you I have to admit he was almost an entirely different person.”
Bella laughed lightly. “Eli…”
“I know your reason for not introducing me to that woman. I have no interest in meeting her if she is no one to you. I know you love me, Isabella. I don’t need any reassurance on that matter.” Elijah replied softly as he watched her lean into his touch. “You were saying something about a big breakfast?”
Bella grinned. “Yes!” She replied happily. “Sit down, I’ll make it for you.”
“Will you let me help?” Elijah questioned as he sat down on the counter of the kitchen and watched her running around setting things down everywhere.
Bella sighed, “I guess, only on a few things.” She sit a bowl down in front of him and then the eggs. “Crack some eggs into this. Make sure not to get any of the egg shell in the bowl.”
Elijah smiled and nodded. “I think I’m quite capable of doing this.”
“Whatever you wish to believe.” Bella said with a smirk. “But I really don’t like egg shell in my breakfast.”
“I’ll do my best.” Elijah promised he smiled as Bella turned around and began preparing the rest of the food. He watched her work while he was cracking eggs at a slow pace so he would be sure to have something to do. He looked at her curiously as she began to hum a quiet tone to herself, she was practically dancing around the kitchen as she cooked. He now understood how liberated she must feel after getting rid of the poor excuse of a mother she was given. Granted she had done it before, but he could see this time something had shifted and really changed.
Kol walked through Bella’s front door with the coffee she had asked for in one hand. He entered the kitchen and smiled at Bella. “Morning, darling.” He greeted.
Bella smiled, “Have a seat Kol, I made you a plate. Did you tell your siblings to come?”
Kol shook his head. “No, why would I? I had to spend what felt like endless hours in a car with them yesterday and I don’t wish to spend more time with them today as well. Not to mention that last night Finn and Klaus got into an argument over Sage. It was a warzone in our home, it took Rebekah and I hours to get some sleep.”
“What were they arguing over?” Elijah questioned curiously.
Kol rolled his eyes. “Sage wants Klaus to allow Finn to wake Esther so Finn can speak to her. Klaus won’t allow it, and neither will Rebekah and I. Around the moment Rebekah and I gave up trying to calm Finne, was when Finn headed down stairs to try to get her up himself. As you both know Bella’s little spell hurt him every time he tried anything with the coffin. Then Sage tried attacking Klaus only to have Klaus stop her and snap her neck. Finn fell into a rage, and because he was so weak from trying to open the coffin he took Sage upstairs. I personally believe that Sage and Finn just want Esther alive so they can try to kill themselves and the rest of us. We all know how suicidal and dramatic the eldest brother can be.”
“Do you really think that he’d put you all at risk by trying to wake Esther?” Bella questioned as she set a plate down in front of Elijah and Kol.
Kol smiled and grabbed his fork. “Finn is overdramatic, he’s willing to do anything to deem himself worthy of life. If it means killing the rest of us, then so be it.”
Bella shook her head, “He won’t be able to do anything. Your brother is just being stupid and quite honestly, pathetic.”
“Well, I really hope it’s not me you’re talking about.” Klaus said walking into the room with Rebekah just behind him.
“Well, who else would I be referring to?” Bella questioned with a teasing smile as she fixed up two more plates and set them down for Klaus and Rebekah. “You know if I’m going to say anything negative about you I’d do it with you in the room. It’d be rude to do it any other way.”
Klaus smirked, “I’m assuming because you don’t hold any respect for Finn or Sage you’re talking about them.”
Bella nodded her head, “You’d be correct. What do you plan to do about your brother? I don’t suppose you want to kill him?”
Klaus shrugged and sat down beside Elijah. “What do you think, Elijah? Is it finally time to give our brother his wish for death like he so wanted? I was beginning to favor the thought of maybe daggering him again. I thought I’d let him sleep out his suicidal tendencies. See where he was in about a hundred years or so.”
“Yes, because the fact that you daggered him 900 years ago sure gave him a lot of time to help him.” Kol replied rolling his eyes.
“I think it’s time we all had a talk with Finn. We’ve given him enough time to himself, if he wishes to kill us then we should know about. We are not children to be avoiding him for much longer. His foolish games need to come to an end before they get out of hand.” Elijah said with a final tone.
“And there you have it, the family’s wisest has spoken.” Kol said with a mock applaud.
Rebekah rolled her eyes, “I think it’s a wonderful idea and I’m sure Kol believes the same, but we all know how foolish Kol can be with expressing his emotions.”
“When isn’t Kol foolish?” Klaus and Bella questioned at the same time.
Kol rolled his eyes. “If it weren’t for me you’d all live boring lives.”
Bella made her way to the door as she and the Mikaelson’s could hear a vehicle coming towards her house. None of them knew who it was and Bella knew that her mother wasn’t foolish enough to return. They had all been having a discussion on Finn after breakfast when they heard the car approaching. Now that the car had stopped just in front of her driveway they all heard two set of footprints coming up to the house it had really caught all their attentions.
Bella opened the door immediately after the first knock and was immediately surprised as she saw two officers on her doorstep. “May I help you, officers?”
“Are you Isabella Swan?” The tall blonde asked. His partner stood beside him with his hands on his hips as he looked over Bella’s shoulders.
“Yes, that would be me.” Bella said cautiously. “Are you going to explain what you’re doing on my doorstep?”
“We’re here because a Renee Drywer has filed a case complaint against you. Ms. Drywer states that this morning you assaulted her.” The officer said, “We’re here to follow up on that report.”
Bella let out a sigh of annoyance. “Officer, this is my private property and she was trespassing. I asked her to leave and she refused. After a brief conversation she tried to hit me and I defended myself. I don’t see what it is that I’ve done wrong in this situation.”
“Do you have any witnesses to this altercation?” The other officer questioned.
Bella nodded she opened the door further to show the Mikaelsons. “My boyfriend and his family were over for breakfast when everything occurred. They can all be witness to my statement.” Bella pointed to Klaus’s house. “They live just next door, so they were here before she even arrived.”
“Ms. Dwyer didn’t state there were other witnesses to the situation.” The officer said eyeing the family.
“I believe that’s because she knew her statement wouldn’t hold up if there had been witnesses. I’m sorry she dragged you all the way out here, but I can assure you that I did nothing to her. I asked her to leave and when she went to hit me, I stopped her. I didn’t us any unnecessary measurements of violence.” Bella said softly.
The officers both nodded. “We’re going to need you to come down to the station later today to make your statement.”
Bella nodded, “Sure thing officers, I’ll head down in a few.” Bella replied with a sincere smile.
Bella closed the doors as the police officers left. She turned to the Mikaelsons and sighed. “It seems your brother is trying to kill you, and my so called mother is trying to get me arrested. It’s been a lovely day so far, wouldn’t you say?”
Kol smirked, “I think it’s absolutely lovely. I’ve never been to a police station before.”
Bella smiled, “I guess you going as a visitor is better than you going in handcuffs.”
So… did you like it?
Tell me what you think, and I hope you enjoy!
