Mimic: Bella S. and Theo R.
I hope you enjoy!
Bella sat in the loft, she was sitting beside Jackson as they listened to Scott drone on forever. Tapping her fingers on her knee as she was itching to get out of here, she needed to burn off some energy.
“Bella, what do you think?” Scott asked the brunette who hadn’t spoken a word throughout the meeting.
Bella sighed and sat up straighter. “Personally, I think we all need to grow up and understand that letting these threats go is a stupid idea. It’s not building a good name for this pack, there’s a reason why all these creatures keep coming here. We’re seen as a weak pack that’s made up by a bunch of teenagers who can’t kill anything. You want this to stop, then kill this threat and use it as proof that were a capable pack that can protect its territory.”
“Bella…” Scott sighed agitated. “That’s not how…”
Jackson frowned placing an arm around Bella, “You can’t ask for her opinion and then yell at her for saying what’s on her mind. Respect what she has to say and accept that not everyone shares your same opinion.”
Bella sighed, “I have to get going.” Bella said standing. “Tell me what ends up happening.”
Jackson stood and followed his younger sister. He opened the door of his car for her, “Want to go for a run?”
Bella smiled, “Did you forget that there’s supposed to be some creature out there that we’re not aware about?”
Jackson shrugged, “When has that ever stopped us?”
Bella smiled, “I think I prefer just taking a nap, I doubt we’ll be getting much sleep once all of this really starts.”
Hours later Bella could hear her brothers soft snoring. She was restless so she placed on a pair of running shorts and headed off for a light jog to burn off some energy. She ran in her neighborhood and within hearing range of Jackson in case she needed help. She started running back to the house when she saw two idiots trying to break into the house next door.
Before she could say anything one of the men had spotted her and was running after her. Bella fought him off as best as she could. Her black belt coming I’m handy in such a situation, but as good as she was she couldn’t actively fight off more than two attackers.
Bella sighed out in relief as she heard a growl and saw flashing eyes. The men released her and Bella bent over placing her hands on her knees as she tried to breathe. “Thanks for the help, Jax.”
“Actually, my name is Theo.” The wolf responded.
Bella tensed and stood up, she looked at the boy in front of her, and he wasn’t her brother. She relaxed as a familiar person stood in front of her blocking her from the unknown guy.
“Bella, go back inside.” Jackson ordered.
Bella rolled her eyes placing a hand on her brother’s arm. “Jax, I don’t think he’s a threat. He sort of scared off the assholes who were breaking into the house next door.”
Jackson shook his head, “There was a threat remember.”
Bella tilted her head to the side. “You said your name was Theo, right?” At the boys nod she sighed. “Theo Raeken?”
Theo nodded with a smile. “Yes.”
Bella turned to Jackson, “He went to school with us. You got detention in 3rd grade for threatening to give him a black eye. Remember?”
Jackson narrowed his eyes, “He made you cry, I stand by my decision.”
Bella sighed, “Jax, what didn’t make me cry? I balled for two hours after Marley and Me.” Bella turned to Theo. “Thank you, and I would consider telling Scott you’re in town, he’s the Alpha.”
Bella tugged on Jackson’s hand and turned to go back into the house.
“Stay the fuck away from my sister.” Jackson said before following his sister inside their home.
Bella shivered her teeth clanking together in the freezing temperatures Jackson was out with the rest of the pack hunting down a feral omega that was creating trouble. As the new guy Theo had been put in charge of babysitting, much to Jackson’s dread.
Theo stripped off his jacket and handed it to Bella. “Put this on. I’m going to go see if I can get your car to work.”
Bella shrugged the jacket on. “Thank you.”
Theo nodded, he opened the hood of Bella’s car. He easily fixed the engine and when he returned to the driver’s side Bella was still shaking but it had lessened. He turned the car on and pumped up the heat, Bella sighed.
“Let’s get out of here. I want to be paranoid in the comfort and warmth of my own home.” Bella shivered and shook her head with a frown.
“If you can fight better than Stiles, why do they allow him to tag along and force you to stay behind.” Theo questioned already suspecting he knew the answer but he liked to hear her voice.
“Scott likes to play knight in shining armor and he then forces me to be a damsel than to let me do anything. And then Jackson just agrees. I used to argue it, but I just don’t care anymore.”
Bella jumped out of the car as soon as they were in her driveway. She motioned for Theo to follow her as she headed right for her room. She moved around and turned on her space heater while moving to start up the fireplace in her room.
Theo looked around the room and liked how much it smelled like Bella, like home to him. He noticed the keyboard in the corner of the room, alongside it a violin. “You play?”
Bella nodded, “It’s a hobby acquired.” She shrugged off Theo’s jacket and handed it back to him. “Thank you.”
Theo watched as she left the room and he had a chance to snoop around. He looked around and was drawn to a board in her room that was filled with photos. His eyes zeroed in on a group photo where Scott was kissing her cheek. He had suspected that the two had dated, but he hated how true his suspicions were coming out to be. He moved and sat down sitting on her desk chair when Bella walked back in. She handed him a plate with a sandwich before moving to sit on the bed with her own plate.
Theo took a seat beside Bella at the lunch table, his new goal was to forever keep the brunette. He was enraptured with her when they were kids and it seemed, the feeling hadn’t gone away now that they were older. His infatuation with her was beginning to border on obsession now that he and Bella were friends.
He ignored the glare coming from Jackson and Scott as Bella looked up to speak to him.
“Are you in line to be valedictorian?” Theo questioned curiously.
Bella shrugged, “Probably, but I would rather Lydia do it.” She smiled at Theo. “Why do you ask?”
“I was just trying to see how busy your schedule is.” Theo responded with a smile.
Bella went to respond but paused as Jackson growled out. “You’re like a guard dog you know.” Bella said with a sigh, she lightly shoved her brothers shoulder. She sighed out because she knew Theo was going to ask her on a date, but now her brother and the captain of the theatre club had interrupted.
“Hey, Bella, you mind helping me with the sheet music for a second before lunch is over? Ollie can’t quite figure it out and we can start practicing without the music.” The captain, a tall dark haired boy said nervously twitching his hands at his side.
Bella smiled, “Sure.” Bella said standing, and grabbing her bag. “What musical did you all decide to do this year?”
“RENT.” The boy responded easily now that he was away from the table, he was human, but he knew that Jackson was overprotective of his sister. The entire school knew that Jackson protected Bella ridiculously. “You should’ve auditioned.”
Bella smiled, “And play Maureen? I’m fine, besides I have a lot of things to do now.”
“Are you auditioning for a music program for university?” The boy questioned curiously. “I have an audition with Julliard in a few weeks, I’m hoping I’ll get in.”
Bella smiled, “Personally, I want to get into criminal law, but I have applied to a few music schools. Manhattan School of Music is one of my favored choices, though I do want to get into Harvard for their law program.”
Jackson leaned in towards Theo. “I told you to stay away from my sister.”
Theo smiled and leaned back in his seat deciding not to respond to the statement.
Bella approached her locker after school, Jackson was already waiting at his own car, but she had to grab a textbook before she left for the weekened. She paused seeing a note taped to the inside of her locker, Bella untaped the note and smirked at the contents.
I was going to ask you to dinner earlier, but I was rudely interrupted.
Would you like to join me tonight at Mario’s?
Bella smiled and folded the note back up and put it away in her bag before grabbing her textbook and closing her locker up.
“Can I ask what your answer is going to be?” Theo questioned leaning against the locker beside her own.
Bella smiled, “Are you sure you’re prepared for it? If you haven’t noticed, Jackson is sort of my own personal guard dog, I’m sure he’ll try to beat you within an inch of your life.”
Theo smirked, “I’m sure I can handle it. Is that a yes?”
“Sure. Mario’s at 7?” Bella responded smiling at Theo before she headed off to the car with Jackson.
Jackson frowned as Bella approached. “You smell like Theo.”
Bella didn’t respond, just getting into the passenger seat of the car. “Do you need me to help you write your English paper? I know it’s about poetry, and you are not great at poetry.”
“I finished it already.” Jackson responded. “Are you thinking about dating Theo?”
“We’re going on a date tonight, I’ll see how it goes from there.” Bella responded sincerely. “You can’t prevent every guy that likes me from asking me out. You’re not that talented.”
“I can still try.” Jackson responded with a sigh. “Can I at least tag along?”
“You are not third wheeling on my date.” Bella responded with a frown.
Theo leaned back in his chair and watched Bella. “Do you know what you are?”
“A mimic.” Bella responded taking a sip of her water. “A supernatural creature that can mimic the talents of others. It’s why I was so easily able to pick up playing guitar, piano and martial arts. It’s why I can do anything after watching someone do the same thing long enough. If I focus long enough I can match your speed, your strength, and anything else you can do, well except the shifting. I can’t physically change my appearance.”
“To become a mimic, you have to go through a very vigorous changing process.” Theo responded leaning forward.
Bella held up one finger. “You have to be born a conjoined twin.” She held up two fingers. “You have to be bitten by a Kanima.” She held up three fingers. “You have to be a virginal sacrifice.” She held up four fingers, “Must be murdered by an Alpha on the night of a full moon that lines up with the day of your birth.”
“How did you know about what you were?” Theo questioned.
“The night I was killed, I came back alive in the middle of the woods with my clothes soaked in my own blood. I went to Deaton as soon as I could, he checked me over and did some blood tests and everything came out fine. He promised he’d keep it between us, and he did. Soon after I started noticing that I would watch tutorials on new music and I’d pick up the song easily, and my martial arts training was easier than before. I went back to Deaton and he led me in the right direction, I told Jackson and that was just after Jackson almost died after being a kanima.” Bella smiled. “Can I ask how you knew that I wasn’t human?”
“You weren’t scared when you were attacked.” Theo responded easily. “It wasn’t hard to figure out what you were once I knew more about you.”
Bella nodded, “Is that why you asked me on a date? Because you want to somehow charm me into being into your pack? You want to make me fall in love with you so that I leave Scott’s pack and join yours.”
Theo smiled, “No. To be honest, I was after Stiles, I figured you and your brother hated me when we were younger, so you’d hate me now. I asked you on a date, because I like to believe we’re quite compatible.”
“Jackson hated you because you made me cry, repeatedly. I never hated you, your memory is blurred you were the one who hated me.” Bella reminded him with a frown. “You pushed me down the slide almost every day.”
Theo laughed, and leaned forward on the table a wide and blinding smile on his face. “You think I hated you? I was pulling your pigtails, Bella, I liked your attention and the only way I could get it was if I did something to make you angry.”
Bella rolled her eyes, “That is the worst thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I wrote you a Valentine’s card before I left.” Theo said with a grin. “It was a rose.”
Bella smiled, “I remember it.” She laughed lightly. “Scott took credit for it, but as nice as Scott has always been, he’s never been able to write very well.”
Bella sat on the floor of the forest watching Theo train his pack. She stood and approached Theo, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on his arm. “Can I try?”
Theo turned around, moving and pressing Bella against a tree, one hand resting on her hip, while the other rested on the curve of her neck. He leaned in pressing his nose to her pulse point and taking in her scent, he kissed over her pulse point leaving a very visible mark. “Are you sure you want to try?”
Bella smiled, “I’ve been watching.” She commented easily. “I know all your moves, and I know I can mimic the strength you use. I don’t think it would be too hard to beat you.”
Theo looked over at his pack, “Head back. I’ll train Bella by myself.”
Bella grinned, “Are you going to yell as much as you do with your betas? Because, personally, I find it quite annoying.”
Theo smirked, he leaned in and kissed Bella, trapping her between the tree and himself as they kissed. He pulled back slightly, “If you’re ready.”
Bella grinned, “Sure.”
Bella knew that throughout their training Theo was going slightly easy on her. As fearless as he seemed to the others she could tell that he was scared of losing his pack, and despite not denying it she was part of his pack. Bella dusted off her jeans. “You were going easy on me.”
Theo shrugged, “I know you can fight, and this is the first time you ever trained with me, I had to look for your weaknesses.”
Bella smiled, “I have to get home. Some of us do care about our school work.”
Theo moved throwing his arm around Bella’s waist and tugging her to him. “I’ll give you a ride home.”
“It’d be easier for you if you could just bottle your scent and I could use it as a perfume.” Bella said in a teasing tone.
“I’ve tried, I can’t come up with a sensible way to do it.” Theo responded leaning over and kissing her temple. “I’ll figure it out soon, and eventually every human and Were will know that we’re together and will keep their hands to themselves.”
“You know, when we started dating you should’ve mentioned how possessive you are.” Bella responded leaning into the embrace.
“You enjoy it.” Theo responded with a smirk. “And I wouldn’t try to lie, babe, I can hear your heart.”
Bella smiled but didn’t respond until they arrived at her home, before she could head inside she paused and turned back to Theo. “I plan on taking a shower. Give me your shirt.”
Theo raised an eyebrow in question, but pulled his t-shirt over his head and handed it to Bella. “I thought you didn’t like me being possessive.”
Bella smiled and shrugged, “I may or may not actually enjoy smelling like you.” She wrapped her hand around his neck and pulled him down to her, connecting their lips together. “I’ll you see you tomorrow, Theo.”
Bella headed inside the house going to her room to take a shower. When she walked out she was surprised to see Scott looking at the board with all her pictures on it. “Must people ask permission before entering someone’s room.”
Scott looked over at her and smiled sheepishly. “Sorry. I did ask, Jackson said I could wait here. I just wanted to talk for a moment.”
“About?” Bella responded curiously, she rolled her eyes because she knew exactly what Scott wanted to talk about. “I’m pretty sure this is about Theo, so get out with it.”
“He’s a murderer.” Scott said quietly. “Are you sure you want to be with him? He could be using you Bella.”
Bella raised an eyebrow at him. “Really? He could be using me? Correct me if I’m mistaken, but didn’t you date me for 6 months in an act of revenge against Allison and Isaac?”
Scott sighed, “Bella, I won’t lie you know that’s how it started, but I do feel something for you. I love you, Bella, and I know if we just try again we could really make it work. Theo isn’t right for you, he’s possessive and it’s like he’s obsessed with everything you do.”
Bella smiled softly, crossing her arms over her chest. “I know how Theo is, you don’t think I would know how possessive he is? We’ve been dating for months, Scott, I know my boyfriend pretty well.”
“He’s just not…” Scott sighed leaning against the wall. “We would be good together, we were good together.”
“Scott, you’re right, we worked well together, but you lied from the beginning of our relationship. The foundation of our relationship was based on a lie. Theo and I, we work well together, and it’s like we just click with one another.” Bella tugged on the edge of the shirt that belonged to Theo. “Scott, you tend to treat me like a damsel in distress, because you always want to be the knight in shining armor. I don’t need a knight, I can save myself, you and I wouldn’t work anymore. You need someone who will let you be their knight, and I’m not the girl for that.”
Scott turned and looked out the window. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He responded before he jumped out of her open window.
Bella moved and sat on her bed, “Did Scott and I just break up again? Is that possible?”
“He had hope you’d come around.” Jackson said poking his head into the room, wrinkling his nose at the overwhelming scent of Theo in the place. “Mom and dad are out for the night. I ordered dinner for us, come down stairs when you’re ready.”
Bella rolled her eyes, “I’m not hurt, Jackson. I don’t need any healing time, I’m just surprised. I honestly thought that Scott and I were just friends now. I didn’t know I’d have to break up with him, especially not when I was dating someone else.”
At midnight Bella returned to her room ready to sleep. She wasn’t that surprised to see Theo on her bed. “Did you rub yourself all over my desk already?” She moved over to the curtains being sure to close them before closing the door to her room and locking it.
Theo smirked, “I’ve never wanted to kill someone so much as Scott McCall.”
Bella yawned, “You’re a serial killer in the making you know.”
Theo moved tugging Bella down onto the bed. Wrapping his arms around her and drenching her in his scent. “You love it.”
Bella hummed in response. “Maybe.” She settled herself in and was more than ready to fall asleep.
