At the Top/Hold Onto Me

Bella covered her face with her free hand, and closed her eyes. Chanting inside her head that everything was going to be fine. She let out a loud scream when she felt the branch underneath her feet sway with the wind.

“Bella?” Jeremy questioned running out of the house as he heard the scream. He looked around not being able to spot her right away.

“Up here.” Came Bella’s squeaky voice as she hugged the tree tightly and kept her eyes shut.

“What the hell are you doing up there?” Jeremy questioned knowing his cousin was terrified of heights. He didn’t get an answer as she began to hyperventilate as soon as the wind began to pick up speed.

“I’m going to go get help!” He screamed looking around knowing there was no way for him to get up without falling.

Bella didn’t answer as tears began to stream down her cheeks. Her breathing picked up and she was sure that at this rate she was going to faint from the fear.

Jeremy sighed in relief as Klaus and Elijah appeared in the driveway just in time. Jeremy opened his mouth to explain the situation when Bella let out another scream. They were going to be lucky if no one in Forks called the police by the sound of Bella’s screams. Jeremy turned around as Klaus had already disappeared.

Bella peeked an eye open as she felt someone’s arm around her waist. “Nik.” She breathed, moving instantly to clutch onto him. She felt him hold her tightly before he jumped off the tree.

“Edward came by.” She said quietly still clutching him tightly. “He knew how scared of heights I am, he said I deserved to die of fear.”

Klaus kissed her forehead. “Don’t worry, love.” He responded a dangerous glint crossed his eyes. “He’s now at the top of my list of people to torture. Let’s get you inside, and I’ll see about cutting this tree down. ”
