Bella The Witch: Chapter 20
Bella smiled as she woke up wrapped up in Elijah’s arms. She turned around in his arms and looked at his sleeping face. She reached up with her fingers and traced down the side of his face to his jaw. “I sometimes wonder how I got so lucky to have you.” Bella whispered to herself knowing very well Elijah couldn’t hear her in his sleep. She moved and straddled the sleeping Elijah. She kissed where her fingers had made a trail, she grinned as she knew he was close to waking up. She giggled as he turned his head slightly and his lips met hers and they kissed slowly before Bella pulled back and looked down at him with a grin. “Good Morning.”
“Morning, my love.” Elijah said, his hands resting on Bella’s hips. “You look beautiful.” He said enjoying the sight of Bella in his shirt.
Bella blushed lightly, “I’m glad you think so, because I feel like a mess. I’m going to go ahead and shower, do you want to join me?”
“I’ll be there in a moment, I should call and check in on Niklaus.” Elijah replied, he smiled as Bella leaned down and kissed him before she headed to the shower.
Elijah reached over and grabbed his phone. He called his brother and was surprised when there was a quick answer.
“What are doing calling me?” Klaus asked his voice sounded confused as he spoke.
“I wanted to check in on you, I know this night is important to you, and I thought you might have gotten into an argument with our siblings. We both know how irritating the two of them together can be.” Elijah responded.
Klaus chuckled, “Irritating does not begin to explain what they have been all morning, but I am fine. I will allow you to return to Bella as we both know that is whom you rather be talking to at this moment. Goodbye, brother.”
Elijah chuckled, he couldn’t deny it to his brother his mind was with Bella so with a smirk Elijah headed towards the showers to join his beloved.
Bella laughed happily as she and Elijah headed over to The Grill to spend some time alone. Kol and Rebekah were watching over Elena again, and Klaus was following the trail that led to Katerina, something everyone knew was too ease away his anxiousness. “Nik is being silly.” Bella said with a smile. “Once he finds her he’s going to get bored and then set her free again.”
“Yes, but he’s out of our hair, and it gives me time to be with you.” Elijah replied, he kissed Bella just as they entered the Grill.
“Look at that, it’s my mysterious drinking mate.” Damon said walking up to Bella as she entered.
Bella smiled, “Eli, this is Damon. Damon this is Elijah, my significant other. You can refer to me as Bella, your drinking mate doesn’t sound right.” Bella replied with a smirk. She looked to Elijah with a smile. “He was here when I was waiting for Ry, yesterday.” Bella explained.
Elijah nodded, he shook Damon’s hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Damon.”
“You as well, sorry I can’t have a drink with you today shortcake, but I’ll be sure to see you again.” Damon paused with a smirk on his face. “Happy Birthday, by the way. I heard your brother talking about it yesterday.”
Bella froze, she shook her head as she really had been trying to keep that to herself. Bella looked to Elijah and blushed. “Ry reminded me yesterday about it. I didn’t want to bring it up, today is about the ritual, not about me. ”
“You should have told me sooner, Bella.” Elijah said as he led Bella to a table. “How is it a complete stranger knows about your birthday before I, the man who loves you?”
Bella smiled, “My birthday has never been something I care too much about to be honest. My dad was usually the one to remind me it was coming up.” Bella slid into the booth and gave a small smile as Elijah slid in beside her. “In all honesty, it doesn’t feel the same anymore. With Charlie gone, my birthday just doesn’t feel important.”
Elijah sighed, “It’s more important than you would think.” He kissed her temple and looked down at her. “I will not say anything to my brother, but as soon this is done with you and I are going to celebrate your birthday the way it was meant to be done.”
“I really wish you wouldn’t make a big deal out of this, Eli.” Bella said, “Being here with you is enough for me, you will always be enough for me.” Bella said she rested her head on his shoulder. “Besides I have never been one for the lavish parties or the celebrations.” She paused as she remembered memories from her past birthdays.
“This was the time of year Charlie would visit me and he’d take me out to eat anywhere I wanted. Afterwards we’d go to a movie to watch whatever movie I desired. Then he’d take me to the bookstore and buy me anything I wished.” Bella’s eyes watered at the memory of her last birthday. She hadn’t realized she had been crying until Elijah wiped away the tears from her cheek.
“What is bothering you, my love?” Elijah whispered hating to see her this way.
“My last birthday, instead of spending the day with Charlie like usual, I spent it with Edward and his family.” Bella rested her head against Elijah. “If I had known that it would be my last birthday with him, I would’ve spent every moment with him. It just doesn’t feel the same, Eli. My birthday was something me and my dad celebrated and being without him, I just don’t think its worth caring about to be honest.”
Elijah wrapped his arm around her tighter. “I understand, but this is a special day and although your father could not be here, you have to keep celebrating it to honor the tradition you have with him.”
Bella sighed, “But for now, can it just be you and me? I just want to spend some time with you before the ritual. I promise after the ritual I will partake in any birthday activities you have in mind.” Bella looked up at Elijah with a small smile. “Do we have a deal, Eli?”
Elijah smiled, “We have a deal, my love.”
“You know,” Bella said with a smirk. “You always have to seal a deal with a kiss, Eli. If you don’t it isn’t valid.”
Elijah chuckled at her words, “Well than, let’s seal the deal.” He said as he leaned in and locked his lips with hers.
Bella walked with Elijah and her brother along with Victoria in the wilderness of the woods. They were meeting Klaus at the ritual sight. “I bet that there will be big problems tonight. I’m more than certain Stefan will try something.” Bella said, as she looked around. “Something didn’t feel right about him when we spoke to him yesterday.”
Elijah put his arm around Bella pulling her close to his side. “There’s enough of us to stop them before they can try anything.”
“We have it covered, Bells. We’re hiding in the trees in case they try to do some sort of sneak attack. We’ll see them before they get close enough to do any real damage.” Riley said knowing his sister was probably going through a million negative outcomes for the night.
“And you know how well I am with these sort of things.” Victoria added with a proud smile. “I’m great at tracking and there’s no one better at sneak attacks than me.”
Bella smiled, “Thank you.” She looked towards Klaus as they entered into the clearing were the ritual was taking place. “I’m going to go see how he’s doing.” She leaned up and kissed Elijah before she blurred over to Klaus.
“How’s everything?” She asked as she approached him this being the first time she had seen him all day. It seemed he along with Kol and Rebekah were nowhere to be found all day.
Klaus nodded, “Kol and Rebekah should be arriving with Elena any minute.” Klaus paused and reached into his pocket and handed Bella a small velvet box. “I know you don’t like your birthday, with how much you avoid the subject it’s obvious, but Happy Birthday.”
Bella’s eyes widened at the box. “How did you know? I never told you.” she said confused as her birthday was something she barely remembered.
“Do you remember when I did a background check of sorts on you?” Klaus questioned. Bella nodded. “Your birthday was in the file. I didn’t mention it to Elijah or anyone else knowing you would probably have my head for it.”
Bella laughed, she opened up the small box to see a charm. She ran her finger over the charm noticing how it had the word Family elegantly written on it followed by what seemed to be very expensive gems. “You know, I would need a bracelet to go with this.” She said with a smile.
Klaus chuckled, “I’m well aware, but someone else already took care of the bracelet.”
Bella raised an eyebrow in question. “Who are you talking about?” She knew Riley had gotten her the collection of movies she wanted and Victoria had gotten her an assortment of clothes, and Elijah was planning on something for another day so her mind couldn’t wrap around who it could be. .
Klaus smirked, he closed the box and looked Bella in the eyes with a smirk. “Just hold onto it for a bit.”
Bella sighed, and put the box away. “Thank you, for the gift.” She said with a smirk. “Though I think you only wanted me to be dying with curiosity for the rest of the night by not telling me who else is involved with this gift.”
Klaus chuckled, “Perhaps that is what I wanted your curiosity will always get the best of you.”
Bella rolled her eyes, “I’ll get it out of you eventually. Now, onto the ritual, are we good to go?”
Klaus nodded with a smirk. “We have the vampire, the wolf and in a few moments we’ll have the doppelganger. Are you sure you can break this curse?”
Bella nodded, “I’m more than sure.” Bella was about to step up to the altar to prepare everything, but instead she walked over and gave Klaus a hug. “Thanks.” She said before pulling back and walking towards the altar.
Klaus chuckled as he walked away knowing Bella was the only person that would ever hug him. He walked over to Elijah, “I gave her the charm, she seemed to like it.”
Elijah smirked, “Good, Kol and Rebekah will give her their charms next.”
“How do you know she’ll like this?” Klaus responded.
“Isabella likes the simple things, she’ll like her present even more if she knows it means something. You’re all giving her charms that mean something to her, which will make putting the bracelet together much more special in her eyes.” Elijah responded with a smirk. “She just won’t know who is going to give her the bracelet itself until the very end.”
“How did you plan all of this in such short amount of time?” Klaus responded. “I’m curious to know how in the amount of a few hours you managed to get all of us to go out and buy these charms while having enough time to go out yourself to buy the rest.”
Elijah smirked widely. “I have my ways, brother.” Elijah patted his brother on the back. “Good luck, I’m going to make sure no harm comes to Isabella.”
Klaus nodded, as he saw Kol and Rebekah dragging Elena in behind them. “I’m going to check on the girl.”
Rebekah and Kol threw Elena into the ring of fire preventing her from leaving. Rebekah looked to her older brother as he came closer. “Before you get all angry thinking we purposely were rough with her, let us explain something.”
Kol growled as the vervain on his jacket was burning into his skin. “We were ambushed, it seems her little boyfriend didn’t want her to go. It appears the girl has come to change her mind, and they were putting up a fight. A few dozen vervain grenades, some magic and let’s not forget the several stakes that were thrown at us. If we didn’t enjoy a good challenge we would have just left the girl.” Kol took off his jacket as he had gotten fed up with it, he threw it to the fire and watched it burn. “It’s a real shame, I did enjoy that jacket.”
Klaus shook his head, “And the other attackers, did they follow you?”
Rebekah scoffed, “Do you take us as idiots? We’re late because we were out running them. It should take them quite a while to find us that is if they do.”
Kol smirked, “I might have also killed the girl’s father or uncle, I didn’t care to pay attention to that small detail. It was his own fault really, he just didn’t know when to shut up.”
Rebekah smiled, “I think we’re all just lucky that we didn’t kill her entire family. From what I know the brother and the aunt are still safe at home or they might be headed this way as well.”
“Let’s get started,” Klaus said leaving his two siblings knowing they would stay around the sight until the ritual was done. He believed like the rest of them they were going to go make sure there was no threat being placed on the ritual.
Bella smiled as Klaus approached. “You ready for this?” She questioned as the moon was close to being at its highest point.
Klaus nodded, “Of course I am, I’ve been ready for this to be over for a long time, Bella.”
Bella nodded, “Than let’s get started.” Bella took in a deep breath and began chanting. She watched as Klaus dragged the wolf Jules towards the altar. She continued to chant keeping herself strong and steady as she worked to break the curse. She watched as Klaus ripped out the werewolves’ heart and headed back towards the random vampire they had come across. She continued to chant and watched as Klaus dragged the vampire towards the altar. The vampire died and they were close to breaking the curse and putting an end to Klaus’s torment.
Bella’s eyes met Elena’s as she walked towards the altar, she had done the spell to bring her back to life earlier that day right after her lunch with Elijah, thought she didn’t bother to mention that to Elena. She didn’t to have to worry about it when the ritual grew closer. Bella closed her eyes and continued to chant. Her eyes opened just as Elena fell to the ground. Bella chanted the last sentences and stepped back just as Klaus began to take his wolf form. She gasped out as she was pulled to the side avoiding a wooden bullet that was aimed for her heart.
“Damon?” She questioned as she looked at Damon who had pulled her out of the way.
Damon let go of Bella. “I thought it cruel for someone to die on their birthday.”
Bella laughed, “Yeah, thanks. But why would you save me? I barely know you, you just learned my name earlier today.”
Damon shrugged, “I’ve been in the mood to piss off my brother all week, saving you seemed to be the perfect thing to do.”
“My love,” Elijah said approaching Bella he looked her over before putting his arm around her. “I got distracted with the Bennet Witch. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to warn you in time.”
Bella nodded, “its okay Eli, Damon got me out of the way. Do you know who tried to kill me?”
“It was Alaric, it seemed he was here to help rescue Elena.” Elijah responded he looked to Damon grateful someone had saved his girl. “Thank you for getting her out of the way.”
Damon shrugged, “it’s cool…” He looked towards Bella. “You owe me a drink. I suppose I’ll see you all later.” Damon said before disappearing.
Elijah put his arms around Bella and held her closely. “Are you okay?”
Bella nodded with a smile, she put her arms around Elijah’s neck. “I’m fine, Eli. The bullet didn’t come close to me, and I was out of the way before it could hurt me.” Bella looked back as she saw the black wolf that now stood where Klaus once was. “It’s done.” She said with a wide smile. “He’s free.”
Elijah looked at Bella to see she had tears in her eyes. “Come, if we get too close he’ll feel threatened and he’ll attack, it will be best if we try and stay away from him.”
Bella nodded, “Just give me a moment.” Bella kneeled down and met the wolves’ gaze. She muttered a silent spell before she threw something close to sand at him. She stepped back as it landed all over the wolf, she watched it disappear and sighed in relief.
“What did you do?” Elijah questioned.
“I protected him.” Bella responded, “Just in case they go after him and we’re not there to help him that will keep him safe.” Bella moved to stand back in Elijah’s arms.
Elijah kissed the top of her head. “Come my love, let’s head back. We’ll catch up to Niklaus in the morning.”
Bella nodded, she took Elijah’s hand and began to walk away. She watched as Kol and Rebekah began to make their way over ready to head back as well. “How are you two?” Bella questioned.
Kol sighed in annoyance. “Niklaus demanded that I let Stefan live.”
Rebekah rolled her eyes at her brother’s tone of voice. “He’s just upset because he wanted a good fight, but Stefan was more preoccupied in getting the girl rather than putting any effort into fighting Kol.”
Bella smiled, “You could always chase after Nik, and see if he’ll be up for a fight in his wolf form.”
Kol looked to Bella with a smirk. “I already thought of that, darling, but a wolves’ bite though not able to kill us still hurts us.”
Bella rolled her eyes, she looked around as she didn’t see Victoria or Riley anywhere. “Where are Ry and Vicky?”
Rebekah laughed, “Well, after they finished scaring off Jenna and Jeremy, they began to kiss and I believe they took things further. I believe they’re up in the trees somewhere in the forest.”
Bella shook her head, “I can hear them… we need to leave faster.” Bella said as she blurred away with a chuckle Elijah followed behind her.
Bella sat down on the couch in the living room of the guest house. Elijah was off in town, though Bella thought he was out keeping an eye on Klaus.
“Hello, darling.” Kol said as he flopped down beside Bella.
Bella smiled at Kol. “The smirk on your face has me thinking something is going to happen.”
“Nothing bad, we both know Elijah would have my head if I were to put you in any harm.” Kol said he smirked widely as to what was to come next. “I heard it was your birthday.”
Bella shook her head. “And who told you that?”
“I won’t reveal that bit of information to you, but I will wish you a Happy Birthday!” Kol said he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box that matched the one that Klaus had handed her hours before.
Bella smiled and reached for the box. “You got me one too?” She asked as she looked down at the box.
Kol grinned, “Of course I did, though mine by far is the best. Now, go ahead and open it.”
Bella opened the box and laughed as she saw the charm. She pulled it out of the box and laughed lightly as she saw what greatly resembled vampire fangs, and at the very tips there were red jewels. “This is…” Bella smiled as she looked at the charm and back to Kol. “This is really amazing, Kol. Though, I am curious what brought you to get this charm.”
Kol smirked, “I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing you when you were human, so I only had the pleasure of meeting you as a vampire. This charm represents you being the new addition to the Mikaelson family.”
Bella felt tears swell in her eyes, “Thank you, now all I have to do is wait for whomever is going to give me the bracelet so I can put these on.”
“It was my pleasure,” Kol smiled, he stood abruptly as he knew it was his sister’s turn. “I’ll see you later, darling.”
Bella nodded, she placed the charm back into the box and put it with Klaus’s on the coffee table. She returned her attention back to the book in her hands. Bella turned her gaze to the side as she saw Rebekah enter the room. “I’m assuming you also know it’s my birthday and came to give me something as well?”
Rebekah nodded, she handed over the black box. “Happy Birthday, Bella.”
Bella smiled and took the box from Rebekah. “Thank you.” She opened the box and smiled as she saw a charm of a book with the word Sister engraved in it.
“You’ve given me advice on several things, and you’ve helped me understand things that no one has ever bothered to help me with. We may not share the same blood, but I see you as I see my other siblings. In the short amount of time we’ve known each other, you’ve become a great friend and have become the older sister I always craved for.” Rebekah said, she smiled at Bella.
Bella once again felt the tears swell in her eyes, knowing she had a large family to stand at her side made her birthday more special than she could ever imagine it to be. “Thank you.” She said as she moved her hand up and wiped away a few tears.
Rebekah smiled brightly. “I’m glad I made you cry.” She paused. “I meant I’m glad this birthday was so special for you that you shed a few tears.”
Bella laughed lightly. “It’s more than special. You have no idea what this really means to me.”
Rebekah nodded, “I know it means something special, that’s what we were all aiming for. We wanted to make this birthday special for you.”
Bella nodded her eyes still filled with tears. “This birthday certainly is special.”
Rebekah nodded she saw Victoria enter and she left leaving the two alone. Victoria sat down next to Bella. She played with the small box in her hands. “It took me forever to figure this out. I couldn’t pick out the perfect thing to give you, but then I remembered something beautiful and I knew it was just the most perfect thing to give you.”
Bella smiled as Victoria handed the box over. She opened it to reveal a charm that looked like beach waves. “The beach.” Bella said running her fingers through the charm.
“I remember when we went, and you ran into your mother, that was the first time I ever truly saw you stand up for yourself. That was when you really started to heal and when you really started to become who you are today.” Victoria said. “I see you as a sister, and you are someone very important to me, and when I saw that fire within you that day, I knew you were going to be okay, because you’re a fighter.”
Bella smiled, “I loved that day. It felt good, this is great, Vicky.”
“I’m glad you think so, now I should probably go so Riley can stop fidgeting.” Victoria said.
Bella nodded and placed the charm down beside the other three on the table. “Ry…”
“Hey.” Riley said as he took a seat beside her and put his arm around her shoulders. “Happy Birthday, Bells.”
Bella smiled, “Dad used to say that to me.”
“I know you hate today because he’s not here, I get it. I miss him all the time, but I have to believe that he’s in a better place and that he’s happy.” Riley said he kissed his sister’s head and handed her the black box.
Bella opened it and as soon as she laid eyes on the charm her eyes began to overflow with tears. She ran her fingers along the badge that closely resembled the one Charlie used to have. “Ry…”
“I wanted this for you because I want you to remember him. I want you to remember that our father was a hero, and that he died a hero.” Riley said, “Charlie lived for protecting people, and I wanted to give you something to remember the great man we had as a father.”
Bella wiped her eyes as she looked at the charm. “This is perfect, Ry.”
“I’m glad you think so,” Riley said, he stayed with Bella on the couch for minutes but eventually left her so that he could give Elijah a chance to give Bella his gift. He headed to the backyard were everyone was currently gathered they still had an hour until Bella’s birthday was over.
Bella smiled brightly as she saw Elijah enter the room. “I really should’ve known you would really make this birthday special.”
“I couldn’t let it pass without doing something for you.” Elijah responded with a smirk. “Though I only had a few hours to put this together, I think it’s turning out wonderful. What do you think so far?”
Bella smiled, “It’s amazing, Eli. I don’t know how you could have ever pulled something like this off on such short noticed.” Elijah took a seat on the couch and smiled as Bella moved to sit closer to him. “You really amaze me sometimes, Eli.” She whispered to him.
“It’s not over yet.” Elijah replied, he pulled out a long black velvet box with a large bow tied around it. “Happy Birthday, my love.”
Bella smiled and took the box from his hand. She unwrapped the bow and opened the box. She took in the beautiful gold bracelet that had three charms attached to it. She ran her fingers across the first one and tilted her head to the side as it was a black widow. “From the day you fed me your blood.” She said as she remembered the memory of Elijah giving her his blood that would later in the day turn her into a vampire.
Bella ran her fingers along the second charm, an oak tree that greatly resembled the one on her necklace. “This is so beautiful.”
Bella came upon the last one, a realistic charm of a heart, it wasn’t the cartooned version of a heart, it looked like the heart that lay inside any person.
“I choose this particular charm so that you may always remember that you’re the only person to ever hold my heart, and you shall carry it with you forever.” Elijah said, as he looked at Bella. He wiped the tears that ran down her cheek.
“Eli.” Bella said not being able to come up with the words on how beautiful she thought this to be. “I- I can’t even put it into words. You left me speechless.”
Elijah smiled, he took the bracelet from her and began to put on the other charms. Once it was perfect he put it around her wrist. He kissed the palm of her hand when he was finished. “I want you to know that although your father cannot be here with you, I will do everything in my power to make everyday special for you Isabella. This including your birthday. I love you, and I will make sure you know how amazing and cared for you are.”
Bella smiled and couldn’t stop the tears that ran down her cheek. “You are so amazing, Eli. I love you.”
Elijah smiled, he leaned forward and kissed her. He pulled back after a few minutes knowing everyone was already gathered outside. “There’s one more thing.”
Bella eye’s widened. “What else could there be? The bracelet was enough, Eli. I don’t really need anything else.”
Elijah smiled, he stood and brought Bella to stand with him. He put his arm around her waist and looked down at her. “Just enjoy it.” He said, he kissed her softly before he led her out of the room and into the backyard.
Bella gasped back as it was decorated with twinkling lights with a roaring fire that made the lights shine brighter. And laid out on a table were the supplies to make S’mores and a large cake that read HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELLA. Everyone was gathered together, even Nik had returned from his transformation to be apart of the celebration.
“Wow.” She said as she stepped forward and everyone began to pass around drinks along with marshmallows. She stepped forward and stood with everyone around the fire.
Elijah wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her neck softly. “Happy Birthday, my love.” He whispered into her ear.
“Thank you, Eli.” Bella said as she leaned further into her embrace and enjoyed the laughter and the arguing. This was her new family.
Well… this took longer than expected…
Tell me what you think and I hope you enjoy!
