Bella sighed and leaned against the side of Klaus’s chair as he overlooked a map of Texas. “If we tell him I’m here.” she said resting her finger on the dot that symbolized Dallas, “I can play victim and you can sneak up on him.”

“Will you get hurt?” Klaus questioned as he turned to look at her.

Yes. Wound to the head, leg, and arm. Nothing deadly.

Bella shrugged, “I won’t die.” She responded simply.

Klaus shook his head. “I’m assuming this means that you will get hurt. I won’t put you at risk, Isabella.”

Bella sighed, “Nik, it won’t even be any real damage. I’ll heal. Any other plan will take weeks to complete, this is the shortest and simplest thing to do. If it makes you feel better, I’ll take a glass full of your blood before.”

Klaus turned fully in his chair to have Bella standing between his legs. “If you die you’ll turn.”

Bella smiled, “Yeah, but if I die it won’t get rid of this ‘gift’. I’ll still be a know it all, so there isn’t much change that will happen.”

Klaus smiled, he rested his hands on her hips. “Isabella. You know what will happen if anything ever happens to you.”

“You’ll commit so many bloody massacres that people become aware of the supernatural again. Then there will be thousands of people dedicating their lives to trying to destroy you. Others will see you as a God of sorts and do whatever you ask of them. Eventually you’ll just take over the world.” Bella replied truthfully. “I’ll be safe, I promise you. The most dramatic thing that could happen is that you have to deal with me as a vampire. Which, by the way, I think will be a task you’ll be perfect for.”

Klaus smiled, “I’m curious about something love.” Klaus stated as he pulled Bella down to sit on his lap.

“You want more detail in Greta’s death.” Bella said already knowing this conversation had to come up eventually.

“I’m more than positive you should’ve known she would die.” Klaus responded curiously.

“She wasn’t originally going to be the one to die, it was going to be Maddox. I knew Elijah was going to do something as soon as you bit him. I also knew that when it came to protecting me from Elijah Maddox would put in more effort. So, I told him about Elijah coming and we came up with a plan. Maddox would make sure I get inside the house and at the last minute he would leave and rush to get inside leaving Greta to fight off Elijah by herself. It was either Greta or Maddox and I always liked Maddox more, so it really wasn’t that much of a choice in the end.” Bella replied with a shrug.

“Why Maddox?” Klaus questioned curiously.

“Maddox doesn’t try to sleep with you.” Bella responded simply. “Greta tried numerous times to get in your pants, I think you should just be happy I didn’t kill her sooner.”

Klaus chuckled as he finally saw exactly how jealous Bella could be. “That merited her death?”

“You can find this as amusing as you want, but I know you’d do the exact same thing.” Bella replied, she flicked her finger on the map. “He’s moving.” She stated seriously, her eyes went wide as information flooded into her brain. “He’s going to Forks. He figures that the best way to get to me is to go through Charlie, he’s going to use my dad to draw me out.”

Klaus stiffened, “How long until he gets there?”

“3 days at the most. He’s making a few stops along the way, gathering witches.” Bella responded as she stood and began to search through her gift for answers. “If we leave now and catch a flight we’ll get there before him.”

“Go gather your things I’ll make arrangements.” Klaus said as he gently nudged Bella towards the door. He settled back in his seat and began to make the arrangements for their departure of Mystic Falls.

Bella sighed, “Really dad! It’s 1 in the morning and I need to sleep. I’m sure Sue needs to sleep as well. Stay at the Res, I’ll be fine at the house. Though I will have severe allergies due to all the dust. If you’re not going to use it, sell it.”

“I don’t know, Bells.” Charlie said a worried tone in his voice. “A girl your age shouldn’t be staying alone. I’m only a few minutes away, I can make it to see you.”

Bella rolled her eyes and looked to Nik a smirk lighting her face. “I’m not alone, I met someone on the road. A musician, his band has a gig in Seattle this weekend! The rest of the group is staying in a van so I thought it’d be good if I brought him down to meet you. It beats staying in a van, that 80’s rug can cause some serious burns.”

“WHAT!” Charlie yelled through the phone.

Bella laughed as she could hear Sue frantically telling Charlie to calm down. “Dad…” Bella said containing her laughter. “It’s a joke. You know, something normal people do to ease the tension.”

“You’re not funny, Bells.” Charlie said seriously.

Bella sighed, “I thought it was funny. Look, I’ll make sure all the doors are locked and whatever else makes you feel better. I’m a cop’s daughter do you really think anyone in their right mind will do something?”

“Charlie, listen to the girl and let her and everyone else get some sleep.” Sue said quietly.

Charlie sighed, “I’ll be over before work to check on you.”

“Got it, I’ll be sure to wake up early and apply on all my tattoo covering makeup before you make it over.” Bella replied with a grin. “Joking, dad. See you in the morning, oh, and bring some of Sue’s cake I’ll be starving. Love you, pops.” Bella said as she hung up the phone and looked to Klaus who was more than amused

Bella shrugged her shoulders. “He’ll be relieved when he sees you. He knows I brought someone, there’s no way I’d stay in this place by myself. Especially because of that damn storm. Honestly, I think he’ll just be happy you don’t have long hair, piercings and tattoos everywhere or that you live you in car.”

Bella yawned, “I need to sleep.”

Klaus smirked, “You didn’t get enough sleep on the plane?”

Bella rolled her eyes, “Not with that kid crying the entire flight. Come on, my room’s upstairs.”

Klaus followed after Bella taking in the small home she had lived in. He smirked as she opened the door and the room was filled with the color purple. “I thought your favorite color was green and I wasn’t aware you had a special liking for men in costumes.”

Bella turned to Klaus and smiled. “My favorite color was purple when I was eight, Charlie held onto that more than I thought. When I moved in with him he sort of assaulted my room with the color purple to make me feel at home. I’m just glad Sue had the good sense to change the bed sheets. Though these are Seth’s hence the Batman pattern.”

Klaus watched as Bella removed her shoes and got into the bed. He watched amused as she fidgeted around the bed trying her best to get comfortable.

“Nope.” Bella said getting up from the bed she headed over to the window and closed the blinds. She took the rocking chair she had moved to the living room that had obviously been moved back by Charlie into her room. She was tempted to throw it down the stairs but knew Charlie wouldn’t appreciate that.

“Should I ask?” Klaus questioned as he stopped Bella before she made it back to the bed. Putting his hands on her hips to keep her in place.

“Edward used to climb through my window at night and watch me sleep. He’d pull that rocking chair right up to the edge of my bed and just sit there for hours and watch me. Or I hope he just watched me. My gift has always blocked him from me. I think my own hatred for him keeps my gift from working on him. I don’t like having that chair in my room, it makes me uncomfortable.” Bella said she smiled at Klaus. “It’s about to be 1:30 in the morning, let’s get some sleep. We have about 6 hours before my dad comes by.”

Klaus allowed Bella to lead him to the bed. He got in after her and put his arms around her keeping her pressed to his chest. “What are the chances your father will try and shoot me?”

Bella yawned. “You’re a natural charmer, Nik, he’ll like you more than he likes me.”

“That didn’t answer my question, love.” Klaus responded.

“It’s a 50/50 chance.” Bella replied sarcastically. “Go to sleep, Nik. You’ll survive a bullet wound.”

Bella yawned and got out of the bed, “My dad will be here in less than five minutes.”

Klaus sighed, “I’ll take a shower and leave you to deal with your father.”

Bella smiled, “Are you hiding from my dad?”

“You already know the answer to that, love.” Klaus said as he kissed Bella lightly before disappearing from the room.

Bella yawned and walked over to her luggage. She looked through it and rolled her eyes, she had one bag and Nik somehow had two large bags. “He acts like he’s going somewhere for more than a few days.” Bella mumbled she grabbed one of her t-shirts and put it on. She slipped into a pair of jeans before heading down the stairs. She was right in front of the door just as Charlie pulled into the driveway.

Bella opened the door and smirked to her dad. “Well look at this, I have a visitor.”

Charlie smiled and walked towards Bella. “It’s good to see you again, Bells. How you been?” Charlie gave Bella a warm hug.

“I’m good dad,” Bella assured. “How long do you have until you absolutely have to go to work?”

“Just a few minutes, I had to make sure you were going to be okay. How long are you staying for, Bells?” Charlie                 questioned.

“Maybe a week or little more.” Bella responded with a shrug. “Klaus and I can make it down to the Res for dinner.”

“Klaus?” Charlie questioned.

Bella rolled her eyes, “Don’t act like you didn’t have a clue that I was bringing someone with me.”

“I was just hoping I was wrong.” Charlie replied, “Where is he, I’d like to meet him.”

Bella stepped aside, “He’s taking a shower, if you want to go speak to him while he’s naked have a go at it, pops.”

Charlie rolled his eyes, “No matter what I want to meet this guy.”

Bella nodded, “Oh and when you do can you keep your gun on you? It definitely adds to the scare factor, I’m your only daughter, you have to do your best to intimidate him.”

Charlie chuckled. “Don’t miss dinner.”

“I won’t!” Bella said with a grin. “Look, we just have to make it back to Seattle so he can make it to his gig.”

Charlie gave Bella an unamused look. “Bells. Tell me this guy’s name.”

“His name is Klaus.” Bella responded with a shrug. “I’m not going to give you his last name so you can spend the entire day at work doing a background check on him. You need to focus on your chief of police duties, not on the guy I’m dating.”

“How long have you known this guy?” Charlie questioned. “What a few months? You probably don’t know him as well as you think you do, Bells.”

Bella crossed her arms over her chest. “Try a little over 24 months, dad.”

“You’ve known this guy for two years and you never mentioned him?” Charlie questioned curiously.

“Ye dad,” Bella said sighing, “I haven’t been dating him for that long, that’s why I didn’t mention him. Also, I remember distinctly stating that I got a part time job as a personal assistant.”

“HE was the man you were working for? It’s not very professional if he started a relationship with you.” Charlie said.

Bella smirked, “Well dad what can I say I can be a real charmer when I want to be and it only took me two years to get into Klaus’s pants.”

Charlie sighed in annoyance. “Bring him by, I need to meet him.”

“Sure thing, dad.” Bella said as she walked to her dad’s car. “Before you do anything too overprotective father like know that this is important to me. He’s important to me.”

Charlie nodded, “See you at dinner, Bells.”

“Bye dad.” Bella said as she waved goodbye to her dad. She headed back inside and laid down on the couch. Elijah wouldn’t be in town until tomorrow so she didn’t have to worry too much about him. The only thing she knew for sure was that her and Klaus were going to do some walking around the town. There was no way Klaus was able to stay still the entire day.

Bella sighed as Klaus insisted on going to the Reservation early. “You’re just doing this because you want to put the wolves on edge, because they don’t know about the other type of vampire.”

“I have a weak point in taunting those below me.” Klaus responded he draped his arm over Bella’s shoulder. “Answer me this, how long until we’re bombarded with those awful smelling shifters.”

Bella sighed, “About 5 minutes, but I just can’t manage to see what they’re going to say. It’s a bit fuzzy, so I’m assuming it’s something about me. This gift likes hiding things that relate to me, so I can’t answer what exactly they’re going to be saying.”

Klaus smirked, “I’m beginning to see more and more loopholes in that gift of yours.”

“They’re small and insignificant when you really think about it.” Bella responded she stopped walking and turned to Klaus. “Elijah is getting closer. He’ll be here tomorrow at 8 am, he’ll be by the house looking for Charlie at about 9am.”

“This is worse than I expected.” Klaus said with a sigh.

“Why? I thought what we wanted was for Elijah to come when my dad wasn’t going to be around.” Bella said curiously.

“This has nothing to do with Elijah. It has to do with the fact that you will have to wake up early two days in a row. Do you know how utterly annoying you’re going to be?” Klaus said with a smirk. “Not to mention cranky when you don’t get the amount of sleep that you need.”

Bella frowned, “You’re not as funny as you’d like to believe, Nik. I’m perfectly nice when I have a lack of sleep.”

Klaus chuckled, “Of course you are, but correct me if I’m wrong, but the last time you went two or more days without sleep didn’t you threaten several times to kill Maddox?”

Bella shrugged, “That proves nothing. I threaten to kill Maddie all the time.” Bella smirked, “Just like I know he does the same thing every time I call him Maddie.”

“Hey loca!” A voice said not that far behind Bella.

Bella sighed she didn’t need her gift to tell her who exactly was walking up to her. For the past few years his advance hadn’t stopped. He had even gone as far as to state that they were star crossed lovers. He had been the sole reason she had refrained from coming anywhere near the reservation whenever she was home. The few times she did come down she kept close to Seth and Leah seeing as how they both stayed away from Jake and the majority of the pack members as much as they could.

Klaus smirked, he leaned down and kissed Bella. “Let’s hope for the best.”

“Please, there will be no hoping. You’re bound to threaten more than one of them.” Bella replied as she and Klaus turned around to face the approaching group.

“Hey, Bells!” Seth said as he walked past were Jacob stopped walking and headed towards Bella.

Bella stepped out of Klaus’s arm and hugged Seth. “Hey, pup.” She teased. “Oh, this is Klaus.”

“The guy you’re working for?” Seth questioned curiously.

Bella shrugged, “It’s a long story that I rather not explain in front of everyone. Where’s Lee?”

“Around.” Seth said cryptically.

Bella nodded she turned to Klaus. “This is Seth, my brother by marriage.”

Seth held out his hand to Klaus. “Nice to meet you man.”

“Seth.” Jacob’s voice said cutting into the interaction.

Seth gave Bella an apologetic look before heading back into the pack formation.

Bella sighed and stared at Jacob back then she had been clear about their relationship and the fact that they didn’t have one, but it seemed Jacob was never able to get the picture.

“Aren’t you going to introduce us to your friend.” Jacob said eyeing Klaus.

Klaus smirked, “I’m sure I can introduce myself. I’m Niklaus.”

Bella rolled her eyes as he used his full name. “This is Jacob, a friend of Seth’s.”

Jacob looked to Bella curiously. “I’m not your friend?”

Bella shrugged, “Haven’t been in a long time. If you don’t mind, I was showing Klaus around.”

“Don’t you have time to spend with family?” Jacob challenged as he took a step forward.

Bella sighed, “I am spending time with family in about an hour. Do yourself a favor Jacob and leave.”

Jacob smirked smugly. “Yeah, what are you going to do if I don’t.”

Bella smirked, “I’m not going to do anything about it, you know I can’t physically do anything to you.” She pointed to Klaus. “But he’s bigger and stronger than you, so I’m more than sure he can do it for me.”

Klaus smirked, “Giving it away so easily, love?”

Bella shrugged, “You know as well as I do that I have very little patience when it comes to confrontations.”

“Umm… Bells?” Seth questioned his young face sticking out from the rest of the pack. “What are you talking about?”

Bella smirked and looked to Klaus. “Klaus is a vampire.”

“Once a leech lover always a leech lover.” Paul said from beside Jake.

Klaus growled in warning. “I’d watch what you say about her. There’s nothing stopping me from ripping your heart out and shoving it down your throat.”

“There’s only two of you and about 10 of us. How do you think this is going to end?” Jake said backing up his pack member

Bella took a step back and met Seth’s eyes, she watched him back up and away from the pack. Bella turned to Klaus and a smile formed on her face as his eyes glowed and his fangs lengthened.

“If it’s a fight you want, I’m more than willing to provide you with one. Just be warned that I won’t stop until you’re all dead.” Klaus said he smirked and stared at the pack members. “I’m more than able to fight all of you at once, I’ve destroyed armies much larger than this.”

“Jake, I think we should just leave Bella alone. She’s not doing anything.” Jared said taking in a sigh of annoyance. “Man, I think it’s time to move on from her.”

“Fine, but leeches aren’t allowed on our land. This place is only for wolves, not vamps.” Jacob said a wide smirk on his face.

Klaus smirked, “Then I suppose it’s a good thing I’m also part wolf.” Klaus turned to Bella and saw her smirk.

“You remember the legend you once told me about?” Bella said looking at Jacob. “About that man who was part vampire and part werewolf? The one that nobody knew if it were real or not because the legend was so old.” Bella smirked, “He’s the legend you were talking about.”

“There’s no way.” Paul said, “It’s just a myth.”

“You can believe what you wish, but insult her one more time and I’ll tear you all apart.” Klaus said he put his arm around Bella’s waist. “We have plans for dinner, so we’ll be going now.”

Bella smiled widely, “They’re not going to give up.”

“I wouldn’t expect them to, but we do have to join your father for dinner.” Klaus responded as he led her away.

Bella smirked at her father as he had his entire Police belt still on. “You know, pops, I’m a little hurt that you didn’t bring in your hunting rifle. What kind of father doesn’t try to intimidate his little girl’s boyfriend? I mean you could’ve tried harder, you really could’ve put on a show.”

Charlie chuckled, “So what exactly does Klaus do?”

Bella smirked she jumped and sat on the wood of the porch next to where her father was leaning. “He’s an international drug lord. He runs a lot of markets between here and Canada.”

Charlie sighed, “You’re safe, right?”

Bella wrinkled her nose. “I love you, pops, but I am not ever going to talk to you about my sex life.”

Charlie ran his hands down his face. “So what are you doing?”

Bella smiled, “The usual amount of stuff.”

Charlie nodded, “So what happened that landed you in the hospital a few months ago.”

Bella froze and shook her head. “Forgot it was your insurance I was under. Klaus and I were in Portland and I got in the middle of a robbery.”

“Why the hell didn’t you tell me anything, Bells?” Charlie said with a shake of his head. “I could’ve been there…”

Bella shrugged, “It was nothing, just a minor wound. It healed up just fine and Klaus is a good nurse.”

“They never caught the guy who shoot you.” Charlie said, “I looked into it.”

Bella smiled knowing exactly what happened to the guy. “It’s unfortunate, but I’m passed it. So, when were you going to tell me that Sue is expecting a child?”

Charlie looked at her in shock. “How the hell did you know that? Seth and Leah don’t even know yet.”

Bella smirked and shrugged. “I guess I’m good at just knowing things. He’s going to be such a cute kid.”

“How do you know it’s going to be a boy? We haven’t checked yet.” Charlie said as he watched his daughter.

“Come on, pops.” Bella said with a smirk. “You already had one amazing daughter, you need a boy. Besides, Seth already has two sisters, he needs a brother.”

Bella jumped out off of the porch and stood as Sue opened the door. “Sorry, Sue.” Bella said as she knew Seth and Leah had overheard the conversation. “I’ll just go inside and join the others.”

Bella entered and saw both Leah and Seth sitting in front of Klaus. Seth was asking several questions towards Klaus’s abilities. Bella took a seat next to Klaus and smirked. “What’s the news with the pack?”

“Jake is having a tantrum.” Leah said with a look of distaste. “It’s infuriating, if he knew how much of a know-it-all you were he wouldn’t be so infatuated with you.”

Bella grinned and leaned against Klaus. “I think I’m adorable and I know you love me, Lee.”

“Do you have to kill in order to survive?” Seth questioned curiously.

“No, that’s not why I kill.” Klaus responded simply.

Bella smirked, “It’s one of the only reasons he doesn’t kill, actually.”

“Do you have turn every full moon?” Seth asked excitedly. “I mean the next one isn’t far off so you can turn right?”

Bella laughed, “Seth are you seriously trying to see if he can turn with you?”

Seth shrugged, “We’re shapeshifters, we’ve never seen a real werewolf.” Seth sighed and stared at Klaus and then looked to Bella. “How long are you going to stay?”

“Only a couple more days.” Bella said quickly. “We’ve got some stuff to do.”

Seth sighed, “I guess we’ll just have to see how many things we can do until you leave.”
