Bella tapped her foot impatiently as she waited outside the hotel room. She didn’t really know why she was here, but her gift told this exact location at this time was where she needed to be, so here she was in a hotel in New York City sitting outside of one of the most expensive rooms on the top floor. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back as she had driven all night just to get here and yet nothing had happened.

She stood as soon as she heard footsteps approaching. She tilted her head as she met the eyes of the man standing in front of her. Her eyes blurred slightly as his basic information came into her head. She sighed as the one thing that stood out was that he was a vampire, but not just any vampire, a hybrid, thee hybrid. “Isabella Marie Swan, I’m here to assist you in your plan for world domination, or whatever your goal is exactly.” She greeted extending her hand to him.

He eyed her extended hand curiously and then met her eyes again. “What are you doing here?”

Bella sighed, “I’m here to assist you in your plan… did you not here what I said in my greeting? I mean you’re the scariest being alive are you telling me you’re starting to lose your hearing? If so, I’m sure I can figure something out to help you.”

“Leave.” He said simply as he went to open his door.

Bella crossed her arms over her chest and decided to do this now. “Your name is Niklaus Mikaelson. Your mother is Esther Mikaelson and you were raised by her husband, Mikael, but he’s not your real father. Your real father was a werewolf, a very strong one at that, not to mention he was the alpha of one of the biggest packs to date up until his death when his pack was slaughtered by Mikael. You have the werewolf gene in you and by nature are an Alpha male, this meaning even though you don’t turn into a wolf because of a curse your mother put on you, you still hold power over other wolves. Even if you nor they know it. Your favorite sibling is Henrik, but because he died at a young age you became very protective of Rebekah, who is your second favorite. Whom, you have daggered in a box that is hidden away in storage unit in New York and is being guarded by 20 vampires.”

Bella stepped closer. “You protect Rebekah far more than you do your brothers because you fear she’s too weak to take care of herself. You watched Henrik die and you refuse to watch her die as well. That’s why you kill any suitor she has and dagger her every time she does something foolish. You have Kol and Finn daggered as well, but not Elijah. Whom you see as your only equal, not because of his strength, but because he’s the only one of your siblings that still believes you have some humanity in you. Right now at this very moment you have a warlock waiting down the hall for your signal. At this signal, Maddox, will try to use his magic to make me unconscious, only it won’t work. You smelled me as soon as you got off the elevator, the only reason you didn’t kill me was because you were curious. The cleaning staff is to clean only when you’re not here. When you’re here no one is allowed on this level of the hotel but you and your personal minions. At this very moment you’re wondering whether I’m working for Elijah or Mikael. I don’t work for either. Mikael is an asshole and I think about the same thing for your brother.”

Bella stepped back and leaned against the wall. “I’m not here to lead you to them or to kill you. I’m here because I know that you could use my help. You’ll find I’m very useful to have around. For instance, I can tell you that your witch, Cynthia, she’s working for Elijah. She’s the reason he’s been able to stay so close behind you. Also, if you don’t dispose of her and leave New York within the next two hours there will be consequences. Elijah will arrive at your doorstep with an army of witches and warlocks ready to weaken you enough so Elijah can get the upper hand on you.”

Klaus turned to Bella and looked furious. “How do you know all of this?”

“I know everything.” Bella said quietly, “Okay, not everything, but I can know anything. Any question you ask me, I get the real answer. Any information I need to survive I get. If you don’t believe me, ask me anything. Ask me something only you would know.”

Klaus paused and stared at Bella. “Who killed my mother?”

Bella smirked, “You expect me to say Mikael because that’s what you told everyone, but you were the one to kill your mother. You reached inside her chest and ripped her heart out, because that’s what she did to you when she killed Tatia. After you killed her you told all your siblings that Mikael did it, and turned them all against him. Mikael isn’t out to kill them like you’ve led them to believe, he’s only after you for vengeance. He wants to kill you for killing his wife, it has nothing to do with being vampires. Your father could careless that his children are bloodsucking monsters, he wants you dead because you took his children away from him. I hope this helped.”

Klaus glared at her but stepped aside from the door. “Get in.”

Bella shook her head, “I wasn’t joking. Your brother is angrier than you think, he’s pulling out all the stops on this one. He knows you’re here and he knows that you’re going to be in your room by yourself for the next few hours. He’s going to come up here with his witches and warlocks and he’s going to use them all to put you in a sleep sort of trance. Then he’s going to put you in a coffin and throw you into the ocean like you’ve made him believe you’ve done with your siblings. You need to kill Cynthia, preferably quickly, and get inside your car and leave. The only warlock you can trust is Maddox, he’s truly loyal to you the rest are just using you.”

“And you? What do you want?” Klaus responded staring into her eyes.

Bella shrugged, “Right now, I want a coffee and maybe a muffin. I definitely want a nap, I drove about twelve hours straight just to get here in time.”

“Why?” Klaus questioned.

Bella sighed in annoyance, “Because if I were any later I’d have to go out, rent a boat, scuba gear, and try to fish you out of the pacific. I don’t know about you, but I rather not dive to the depths of the oceans and risk being shark food.” Bella grabbed her backpack that she left on the floor. “I’ll be in your car when you’re ready to go. Make it quick! He’s gaining on you!”

Klaus walked to his Lamborghini Veneno and raised an eyebrow as he saw that Bella was sound asleep in the passenger seat. He walked over to the driver’s seat and got in, he noticed the note taped to the steering wheel.

Michigan. He knows you hate it there, it’s best to go where he won’t expect you to be. He thinks you’d go to Maine so we need to head in the other direction. Don’t stop driving… Wait, scratch that, stop in 2 hours and 38 minutes and get me a coffee and a chocolate chip muffin, and maybe a sandwich if you’re being generous. Also, a lot of napkins, I’m prone to spilling.

-Bella

He looked over at her and saw that she was truly asleep, her heart was beating at a soft rhythm. She was curled up in a ball and was leaning against the door to the car. He folded the note and put it away. He started the car and drove. Every few minutes he’d look over at Bella and see that she was truly fast asleep, she must’ve been telling the truth when she said that she drove twelve hours straight.

Klaus turned his head as he heard her mutter something in her sleep.

“Stubborn… Klaus… Shark food…” She said as she slept she twitched slightly. He laughed quietly as he watched her for a moment before returning his eyes to the road. He grabbed his phone as it began to vibrate.

“The girl was right.” Maddox spoke into the phone. “Elijah got here with a swarm of my kind. They barged into the room and froze as they spotted Cynthia. I couldn’t get much from the cameras we had in the room, but he said something about Maine.”

Klaus looked over at Bella, “I’m headed somewhere else. Stay in New York for the moment, see how close you can get to Elijah without him spotting you. I’ll call you if I need anything.”

“What about the girl?” Maddox questioned quietly.

Klaus tilted his head, “She’s only human I’ll be fine.” He hung up the phone and looked at the time. It had been 2 hours and 36 minutes. He looked around and saw a Starbucks drive in. He pulled in and ordered her food. He even drove to a sandwich shop and ordered her a sandwich. He got back on the road and wasn’t surprised when he saw her wake a few minutes later.

Bella groaned, “I hate sleeping in a car, it always leaves me with back aches.” She reached for her coffee and took a sip. “Thank you.”

Klaus looked over at her, “Can you see the future?” He questioned curiously.

Bella rolled her eyes, “Yes and no. I can see what I need to see. Sometimes, I’ll get these scenes of something that will happen if I don’t step in. For instance, your brother’s invasion back at the hotel. I can also see things that will happen no matter what I do. For instance, I know that you’re going to eventually going to break your curse, but I also know several things need to be set into motion for you to break it correctly. You’re going to break this curse, there’s no changing that, but we can change if you break it correctly or not.”

“What are you talking about?” Klaus questioned as he looked at her for a moment.

Bella put on her seat belt on and got a good hold of her coffee. “The doppelganger is alive and I know where she is.”

Klaus suddenly pushed on the brakes stopping the car immediately. “Where?”

Bella shook her head and set her coffee down. “If I tell you now, you’ll drive there and break your curse right away, but if you do it this way you’ll fuck everything up.”

Bella looked to Klaus in the eyes. “If you break the curse now, you’ll be falling into your mother’s trap. She’ll have you in the palm of her hand and that could be disastrous you. If you wait, I can promise you that you will benefit from the wait. Two years, that’s all. She’ll still be alive and healthy, and you get to break the curse. There are several things you need to do first in order to make this successful. The first thing is to put space between you and your brother. His attention has to be on you, he can’t know about the girl. If he knows now, he’ll go after her and kill her just to spite you. By the time he finds out about her everything will already be in motion. I can’t see very far into the future, but I’m certain the plan I have will work just fine in your favor.”

“How can I trust you?” Klaus questioned.

Bella shrugged, “You’re a 1,000 year old vampire and I’m basically a human with a lot of knowledge. I wouldn’t be stupid enough to lie to you or betray you. You can literally snap my neck with a flick of your wrist.” Bella sat back and put her feet up on the dashboard. “You should start moving, a trailer is coming this way and will crash into us if you don’t move. I know you’re immortal, but I can still die.”

Bella groaned as Klaus was moving about the room. It had been months and the two of them were working hard to lead Elijah on a silly little hunt. She had shared his bed as the hotel didn’t have a room with two beds. She didn’t think it was going to be a problem but it seemed that when Klaus was uneasy he couldn’t stay still.

“YOU’RE GETTING ON MY NERVES!” Bella shouted as she tried to go back to sleep. “I get that you’re immortal and you really don’t need eight hours of sleep, but may I remind you that I do need sleep. Your constant pacing is driving me insane.”

Klaus looked over at her and raised an eyebrow. “I can snap your neck and then you’ll be in a very long sleep.”

Bells sat up and rolled her eyes. “We both know that you’re not going to do that, I’m far too valuable to kill. Now,” Bella said she reached over and flipped the blanket on the bed and patted the spot next to her. “Take a seat, let’s talk this out. It’s obvious that something is on your mind, so stop pacing and just talk. I’m a certified therapist.”

Klaus rolled his eyes but got into bed beside Bella. He looked over at her to notice she had curled up into a ball facing him. “Is this going to work?”

Bella nodded, “Elijah is on his way to Europe, where he believes you’re headed. He thinks you’re headed there to torment the Volturi, your favorite pastime.”

Klaus nodded, “How long will he stay there.”

“4 months, 6 days, 4 hours, 34 minutes and 45 seconds, before he boards a plane to come back to the wonderful United States.” Bella said she yawned. “By then, you and I would have already started to plant seeds of word of you heading to Canada, where you believe there might be a doppelganger. Elijah will spend the next several months searching for the doppelganger. Giving you and me enough time to set up for your ritual.”

“And Mikael?” Klaus questioned.

Bella closed her eyes as she was getting more information on the eldest Mikaelson. “He’s trapped in a coffin, the spell Elijah had planned to use on you has been used on him. It seems Mikael went after a pregnant woman, one who happened to belong to a very powerful line of witches. Needless to say he was taken down by a coven of very angry witches.”

“And your father?” Klaus asked.

“Will call in a few days to see how I’m doing.” Bella responded easily with another yawn. “He’s worried I’ve become a groupie and am on a tour bus travelling across the country with a band he’s never heard of. He’s terrified I’m on drugs and will get knocked up with some low life’s love child.”

“Are you going to ease his mind?” Klaus questioned curiously.

Bella shook her head, “No. He should trust me by now, it’s been two years since I left, I’m not a kid. Besides if I tell him that I’m not doing what he thinks I’m doing it’s only going to lead him to believe that I’m doing something even worse.”

“Go to sleep.” Klaus said as he watched Bella’s eyes bat as she was already losing the fight to stay awake.

Bella nodded, “Night, Nik.” She whispered just before she fell into sleep.

Klaus watched her sleep for a moment. His hand travelled to her hair and he ran his finger through it, letting the soft locks slip through his fingers. He took in her scent and something about it calmed him immensely. He hated to admit it, but the fear of his brother getting closer wasn’t due to his own safety but hers. The more time he spent with her the more time he found that he was starting to care for her more than he should. He moved and laid down on the bed. His eyes shifted to Bella as her hand patted the spot next to her and once it came in contact with his bare chest she sighed. He watched as she shifted closer until her head rested on his chest. Without thinking he put his arm around her and let her warmth sweep over him. He had never been in such an intimate position with anyone before, but with her it seemed almost too easy to do. He closed his eyes telling himself this was nothing more than just a passing fancy, something that was sure to disappear in time.

“Do you know everything that’s going to happen in your life?” Klaus questioned curiously as he and Bella were headed to Portland.

Bella shook her head. “No, I really don’t get to know much about my future. Everything that has to do with me is completely void. As much as I push I can’t know when I’m going to die, if I’m going to have kids, get married, I don’t know any of that. The only thing I really know is that I’m always happy, my life is happy and that’s good enough for me.”

Klaus nodded, he stayed quiet for the remainder of the ride as they approached Portland he looked to Bella curiously. “Seattle isn’t far from here. If you wish you can take the car and go meet your friends.”

Bella shook her head. “Angie is busy with school and Ben is the same. My dad is spending the night with Sue. I’d ruin plans by just dropping in. Besides I’m scheduled for a visit in a few months when everyone is going to be home. Let’s just head to the hotel so I can take a nap in a bed.”

“You sleep often.” Klaus stated as he looked at Bella. “More than other humans.”

Bella rolled her eyes, “I sleep 9 hours out of the day. That’s one hour more than is recommend, and my mind needs to rest after everything I put it through.” She smiled as Klaus pulled up to the hotel. “I’m going to go take a nap!” She said as she opened the door to the car and got out. She didn’t waste time in getting the room key and heading up to the room. She hit the bed and fell asleep.

Bella groaned as Klaus was shouting at Maddox and wouldn’t let her sleep. She crawled out of the bed and grabbed her wallet. She headed to the door but paused when Klaus spoke to her.

“Where are you going?” Klaus asked curiously.

“To go buy an energy drink and maybe something sweet. I’ll be back relatively soon.” Bella said, she opened the door stepping out but not before calling out. “I’ll bring you back something for your mood swings.”

Klaus rolled his eyes and continue to yell at Maddox as he hadn’t been able to get the girl he wanted to join them. He wanted the daughter of the father that was working with Elijah.

Klaus threw his phone down and leaned back in a chair. He closed his eyes and waited for Bella to come back. He began to become suspicious that something was wrong when an hour had passed and he had still yet to hear from her. He reached for his phone and was about to call her when it started to ring. He answered it cautiously.

“Hello, I’m Susan from Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center and I’m calling on behalf of a Bella Swan. She has you listed as her emergency contact, Ms. Swan has received a bullet wound and is in intensive care as we speak. Can you please make your way down to the hospital?” The woman said.

Klaus grabbed his keys. He answered briefly before putting his phone away and driving as fast as he could to the hospital. It didn’t take him long to find Bella’s room. He entered it and saw her hooked up to several machines. The beeping noise ringing through the room. He closed the door and walked towards the bed. He shook his head as he saw how utterly beat up her face was and by the bandaging on her shoulder he knew she was far too injured. He pulled up the chair in the room and took a seat beside her bed. “I thought you said you were just going for an energy drink.”

“I was…” Bella croaked out, she groaned as she batted her eyes open. “FUCK! This hurt more than I thought it would.”

“What happened, love?” Klaus questioned as he helped her sit up.

Bella sighed, “I went to the convenient store not that far from the hotel. I was picking up some energy drinks and I decided to get an ice cream. This family came in and the mom and dad went to the bathrooms in the back and the girl was left on her own. The stupid parents were gone at the worst moment, this guy came in ski mask and all and held a gun to the register. I knew if he saw the girl he’d kill her without a second thought, so I hid her. I told her to stay quiet and not to move until the man was gone. The only problem was that this man now had it in for me. He spotted me, but told me he wouldn’t shot me if I got him off, at this point I told the asshole to go fuck himself. Then the little girl came out of her hiding spot when she saw her parents. I jumped in front of her to take her bullet, the asshole got away and I ended up in the hospital with a bullet in my shoulder and a pretty large bruise on the side of my face where I hit one of the shelves on my fall down.”

“Did you have to protect the girl?” Klaus said as he leaned back in his chair.

Bella rolled her eyes. “I couldn’t just let her die… Well, I could, but it was morally wrong. My dad is a cop the need to protect runs through my veins. Besides, I knew I was going to make it.”

“How did you not know that there was going to be a robbery in the store?” Klaus questioned curiously.

“I was distracted…” Bella said she blushed at the thought. “I was tired, cranky and all I really wanted was an ice-cream. I lost focus and didn’t put any attention to my gift.”

Klaus chuckled, “Do you want some of my blood, love?”

Bella wrinkled her nose at the thought. “No thank you.” She leaned back and closed her eyes. “Can you do me a favor?”

Klaus nodded. “What do you want?”

“There’s a male nurse, super creepy, red hair, glasses, smells like dying cat,” Bella said, “He umm… How do I put this? I was semi-unconscious when I got in here, so I had to be changed for surgery and put into this awful gown. That asshole was making crude comments the entire fucking time he was changing me. Now, he thought I couldn’t hear him, but I was awake enough to hear his shit. Can you please hit him for me?”

Klaus stood, he kissed Bella’s forehead. “Get some sleep, love.” He said before exiting the room.

Bella smiled, “Thank you!” She called after him as he left. She rested her head against the pillow and fell to sleep.

“Drink my blood, Isabella!” Klaus said in anger as he helped Bella put on her jacket. Doing his best not to move her injured shoulder too much. She had it in a sling, but she was finally free to go.

Bella shook her head. “No! I told you I don’t like blood. If you wanted to get your blood into my system you should’ve put it in the IV or injected me with it when I wasn’t looking. There’s no way in hell I’m drinking it.” She followed Klaus out the hospital and to his car. “Can we stop somewhere first? Actually, two places?”

“Do I want to know what you’re planning on doing?” Klaus questioned as he opened the car door for Bella and helped her in.

Bella shrugged, “I’m not telling you until I have the needed supplies.”

Bella led Klaus to a Sporting Goods store. She smiled as she came upon the baseball bats. “Which one is the strongest?”

Klaus looked through them and picked up a metal bat meant for men. “This one. Are you going to tell me why we’re here?”

Bella shook her head. She grabbed the bat and headed to the register. “If I told you, it would ruin the fun for me, so I’m not going to tell you. At least not yet.” Bella set the bat down and walked over to get a soda and a pack of mint gum. She set them down and smiled at the cashier. “Can you not bag the soda and the gum, please?”

“Of course.” He replied as he scanned the items.

Bella reached for her wallet, but frowned when Klaus paid. “I could’ve done that. This is my plan after all.”

“Yes, but what sort of gentlemen would I be if I let you pay while you’re injured?” Klaus replied he handed her the soda and gum and grabbed the bat. He opened the car door for her again and smiled as she got in. He set the bat down between her legs and closed the door. Just as he was about to sit down Bella stopped him. She handed him the soda bottle showing that she had already swallowed half.

“Can you put your blood in it? I’m hoping the soda will mask it.” Bella said quietly.

Klaus chuckled and took the bottle form her. He sat down and before was about to bite his wrist he told her to close her eyes. He let the blood fall into the bottle and once it was practically full he handed it back to Bella.

Bella took the drink, she closed her eyes and took the bottle. She handed Klaus the gum, “Open that for me while I swallow this down.” Bella took in a deep breath and put the bottle to her lips and swallowed down the soda. She threw the bottle out the window once she was finished. She looked to Klaus and took the gum from him.

Klaus chuckled, “Bad?”

“It didn’t taste bad, it’s the fact that I, a human, was drinking blood that bothered me.” Bella replied she sighed as she was beginning to feel better. “Okay, let’s get going.”

Klaus rolled his eyes. “What are we going to do?”

“A lot of things, for now just drive.” Bella said waving her hand forward so he would just start driving.

Bella got out of the car her shoulder feeling a lot better with Klaus’s blood in her system. She grabbed the bat and signaled for Klaus to follow her. Klaus followed after Bella but was concerned as they were in a very shady part of town. By the smell in the air he knew there were drugs being used everywhere. He put his hand on the slope of Bella’s back as they walked a protective instinct ran through him as he walked beside Bella.

Bella stopped walking as she came to the second level of the building. She smiled, “Come on, we want apartment B3.” Bella walked to the apartment, she knocked on the door and hid the bat behind her back.

A man opened the door he titled his head at Bella as he seemed to recognize her, but couldn’t exactly place where she was from. “Yeah?”

Bella smiled she took a step forward. “Hi, I don’t know if you remember, but I’m the girl you shot.”

Bella brought the bat forward and hit the man on the shoulder. She hit him again on his back and watched him fall to the ground. “Let me jog your memory a bit, asshole. You were going to shoot a little girl, but hit me instead.” Bella swung the bat again at his legs. “What asshole goes after a kid? And for what? A hundred dollars and some change. You pathetic scum!” She hit him again effectively breaking his leg. “Asshole, how was this for getting you off?” She spat as she stepped back. She smiled at Klaus. “You can compel him, or kill him. I really don’t care I got my peace. I’ll see you back in the car, Nik.”

Klaus chuckled as he practically saw Bella skip off with happiness. His smirked darkly at the man in front of him. He looked down at him and shook his head. “You hurt the wrong girl, mate. I’m going to have to kill you, and it’s going to be painfully bloody.”
