Klaus glanced at Henrik as they both carried coffins into the separate rooms that would belong to their siblings. Henrik dragged Elijah’s coffin along, he purposely banged it against one of the stairs causing the lid to fly open before slamming shut on Elijah’s hand.
Klaus raised an eyebrow at his brother’s actions noticing how he really didn’t seem to care that much about handling Elijah’s coffin. Klaus had seen Henrik carry Kol’s coffin in with more care, but it was a surprise to see Henrik handle Elijah’s coffin so roughly. “Something wrong there, brother? You seem to be a little more … rough with Elijah’s coffin, is there a reason for it?”
Henrik shrugged he dragged the coffin into the room and left it at the foot of the bed, he slammed the door shut and looked to Klaus. “He’s all settled in now.”
Klaus finished setting Rebekah’s coffin down as he heard his brother’s voice. “I’m not sure why you’re angry at Elijah. I feel like I should ask Bella.”
Bella exited Finn’s room with a smile she walked over to Henrik and put her arm around his waist. She leaned up and kissed his cheek. She smiled as the simple gesture eemed to take off the look of anger on Henrik’s face. Bella looked to Klaus, “It’s just a bit of anger, nothing serious.”
Klaus nodded, “I was thinking we wait a bit on removing the daggers. Let’s have a moment to eat breakfast before we wake them.”
Bella smirked as Henrik nodded in agreement. “You both know you can’t stall for much longer, right? Sooner or later your siblings will have to be awakened, and the both of you will have to face them. I think you both are just fearing the worst about what could happen. This may not be as bad as you both believe it will be. If anything, your siblings should be worried about what you might say to them instead of you fearing on what they may say to you.”
Henrik sighed and looked to Nik with a smirk. “That may be true, but let’s postpone this until after breakfast. I was thinking I would make a very slow and large breakfast for us.” Henrik teased Bella as he followed her down the stairs.
“You should go into town and get fresh ingredients, we don’t want to be eating something that will turn out stale.” Klaus added with a smirk. “I don’t think we have enough food for that large breakfast you want to make Henrik.”
Bella smiled, “If you’re going to make something large, I expect the both of you to finish every last bite of food, there’s no need to be wasting food for your ridiculous stalling.”
“Fine, I suppose we can go with a regular small breakfast that you make.” Henrik said, he sped up and walked behind Bella resting his chin on top of her head as he wrapped his arms around her. “I think Nik and I will most likely burn breakfast, so you cooking is the best bet for us to have a good breakfast.”
Bella smiled she laughed as Henrik held her tighter feeling the slight shift in his emotions. She knew he was angry at Elijah for not recognizing, and she had a strong feeling this day would be rough for him, but she had to believe that in the end everything would be okay, it had to be.
Bella watched with amusement as Klaus and Henrik both ate their food at a slow pace. She knew exactly what they were doing, but she decided to let them take their time on this. She sipped at her coffee in which she had mixed a lot of blood into. She looked at the two brothers and smiled as they were close to their last bites.
Henrik sighed and stood, he put his napkin on the table and took in a deep breath, “I guess it’s time to remove the daggers.”
Klaus stood as well, “I suppose there’s nothing left to do but awaken them.”
Henrik smiled, “We could redecorate the house, but I think Belle is close to removing the daggers herself.”
Bella smirked, “I would have let you both do it, unless it took you too long, than I would have intervened.”
Henrik extended his hand to Bella, “Let’s go wake my siblings than.”
Bella smiled as she took his hand and walked up the stairs back to the rooms. She expected them to each head into different rooms and remove the daggers all at once, but to her surprise she was led by Henrik into the same room as Klaus. She stood at Henrik’s side as they both watched Klaus pull the dagger out of Finn. Klaus looked at the dagger in his hands. “Should I take this with me?” He questioned as he looked at the dagger and then to Bella and Henrik.
“No, I think you should leave it here with him. Remove the ash of course, but leave the dagger. It’ll be sort of a show of trust, he can feel somewhat better knowing he holds the weapon that could put him back into a dreamless sleep.” Bella replied.
Henrik nodded, “There’s limited white ash in the world, you hold most of it they can’t very well use the daggers without the ash. It’ll be no danger to us or the others.”
Klaus nodded, he set the dagger on the bed and followed Henrik and Bella out of the room. They walked to Kol’s room and Klaus opened the lid, he sighed and pulled the dagger out of Kol’s chest. “He’s going to the worst of them. He never did like being tamed and put away.”
Bella smiled as she remembered the stories both Henrik and Klaus had told her about Kol. “I think he might be jealous.” Bella stated catching the attention of the two originals.
“Kol was never jealous of anything.” Klaus replied as they walked out of the room and into Rebekah’s which was next door.
“You both have told me that when human Kol used to mentor under your mother. From the way I see it, Kol was forced to lose his magic and you have both said in the past that Kol hangs around witches constantly and hold them in high esteem. Don’t you both think that he’ll be a little jealous that Henrik was able to keep his magic and still be a vampire?” Bella said just as Klaus opened the lid to the coffin.
“I think it’s only fair, I was trapped in the world of the dead while he got to walk around with the living. He got a life, I got stuck watching.” Henrik replied with a frown on his face.
Bella laced her fingers through his and squeezed his hand. “I know.” She replied looking at Henrik as he focused on Rebekah avoiding meeting her eyes or Klaus’s. “But I am stating that this may be a problem, or it could help you build a relationship again with him.”
Henrik glanced down at Bella and kissed her forehead. “I love you.” He said simply before releasing her hand and walking out of the room.
Klaus walked towards Bella and raised an eyebrow. “He’s going to be fine…”
Bella smiled, “It’s a lot for Henri to deal with. He hasn’t seen any of them since he was human. He saw Elijah, and Elijah didn’t recognize him. He may not admit it, but that did hurt him.” Bella looked up to Klaus with a smile on her face. “He just needs to get it out, he’ll be okay as soon as he stops holding it all in. Let’s go see what he’s doing.”
Bella and Klaus knew exactly were Henrik was, they entered Elijah’s room to see he had already pulled the dagger out and had placed it on the dresser. He looked to them as they entered. “I was the one to dagger him, I thought I should be the one to un-dagger him. It only seemed fair.”
Bella nodded, “It does seem fair. How long will it take for them to wake up?” Bella questioned as she had never seen this before.
“A few hours. Than they should be up and walking around, things will truly be interesting than.” Klaus said.
Bella nodded, she looked to her watch, “I’ll be back in about an hour or so.”
Henrik raised an eyebrow in question. “Where are you going?”
Bella smirked widely. “To get revenge of course. I’ve let a few days pass by so he can think nothing is going to happen, but I have something in mind. An eye for an eye.”
Henrik chuckled, he walked forward and kissed Bella. Klaus left the room not wanting to disrupt their moment. Henrik pressed his forehead against Bella’s as he pulled back. “Come back before they wake up. I don’t think I can do this without you by my side.”
Bella smiled, “It won’t take long, I promise.” Bella leaned up and kissed Henrik, she melted into the kiss as it made her not want to leave at all. She smiled as he pulled back. “If this is your way to get me to not leave, you’re doing a wonderful job.”
Henrik smiled, “No, go. I’ll hang out with Nik for a while, I’m sure we can find something to do. Just promise me you’ll get back before they wake up.”
Bella nodded, “I promise, I’ll be through the front door before they ever come down the stairs.” She pecked Henrik on lips a final time before he led her to the door.
Bella waved to Henrik as she hopped onto her bike and drove off. She ditched her bike once she made it into town, she couldn’t let him know that she was coming that would ruin everything she had planned. She stopped at the Gas Station and parked her bike to the side knowing the way she had it, it would barely be seen. She looked as a park truck had stood off to the side. She walked over to it and looked into the back where she spotted several empty gas containers. She noticed the truck bed was practically full with them, so reached in and stole two of them.
Bella looked around to make sure no one saw she had done. Taking the containers she entered the gas station. She compelled one of the boys working there to fill them with gas for her. She looked through a magazine with a large smile on her face for how easy it was for her to figure out her plan. She paid the boy as he came back in and took the two containers from his hands. She thanked him before she exited and safely made her way into the woods. She ran as quickly as she could and made it to the Salvatore boarding house.
Bella smirked widely as she saw the Camaro in the driveway. Quietly she uncapped one of the cans and began to spread it all over the car. She made sure she got every nook and cranny to the car she even went as far as propping the hood open and pouring the gas all over it. She threw both containers through the house window breaking it and shattering it to pieces. She moved and began flicking the lighter on and off as she waited.
“Hello, Damon.” Bella said as he exited the house.
Damon eyed Bella, “What the hell are you doing here?”
“I want some sort of revenge, and you can’t believe how easy it was for me to figure out this was your most prized possession.” Bella smiled as she gestured to the car.
Damon sniffed the air and his eyes went dark as he knew that smell. He chuckled darkly, “You wouldn’t.”
Bella smiled, “I would.” She said as she threw the open flame at the car. She smirked as she watched it catch fire, but what entertained her the most was Damon’s growl. She laughed as he came to stand in front of her. His eyes had become surrounded with black veins and his fangs appeared as he glared at Bella.
Bella shoved Damon back as he was too close for her liking. “This is a warning, I can do a lot worst Damon. This is me playing it nice, so watch what you do, because I’m the last person you want to piss off.”
“You’ve started a war.” Damon said with a smirk, “This is only the beginning.”
Bella glared at Damon. “I don’t think I’m making myself clear to you, but if you want to play with fire, than go ahead.” Bella smirked at Damon and slapped his cheek playfully. “It was nice seeing you again, Damon.” Bella blurred away just as the car exploded, she smiled as she headed back into town and to her bike. She got on her bike with a grin on her face, yes she had done good work.
Bella drove back to the house as quickly as she could, she wanted to keep her promise to Henrik. Bella arrived at the house and sighed in relief that she really hadn’t been gone for more than an hour. She walked into the living room to see both brothers sitting together in the living room. Klaus was sitting in an arm chair with his feet kicked up on the coffee table while Henrik was sitting in the middle of the couch. “Is this all you’ve been doing?” Bella asked as she took the seat next to Henrik.
Henrik nodded, “That and were betting to see what you would do to the Salvatore.”
“So what did you do to him?” Klaus asked as he drank from his glass.
Bella smiled proudly, “I lit his precious car on fire and made sure he was there to see it explode. It was all in a day’s work really.”
Henrik grinned at Klaus. “I told you, I know my Belle.”
“What did you think I was going to do?” Bella asked Klaus.
“I figured you would burn his house down, but I’m curious to know why you didn’t do that.” Klaus questioned.
Bella shrugged, “Damon was the mastermind behind burning down my house, so he was the one I was after. Burning down the house would be more like I was trying to go after Damon and Stefan. I really wanted to focus just on Damon and make sure that he suffered solely for his actions.”
Henrik kissed Bella’s temple and put his arm around her. “I knew you would go for his car, it is more personal.” Bella took Henrik’s drink and took a sip of it. “Have you checked on them?” She questioned.
“No, we don’t wish to head upstairs, which is why we’re going to wait for them to come here.” Henrik replied as he finished off his drink.
Bella smiled as Henrik had moved to sit in the arm chair beside Klaus and had pulled her into his lap. Their previous seat on the couch had their backs turned to the entrance of the living room and Henrik wanted to be able to see his siblings come inside. “They’re starting to wake.” Bella said as she could hear the shuffling coming from upstairs.
“Let’s just see how long it takes for them to come down the stairs.” Henrik replied as his hold on Bella tightened.
Klaus finished his drink. “It shouldn’t take long. I’m sure they’re eager to come down and attempt to serve me with some sort of revenge.”
Bella rolled her eyes, “They wouldn’t get close.” She replied she looked at Henrik as he seemed focused on the noises that were coming from upstairs. Bella leaned back further into his embrace, the living room stayed quiet as they all had their minds focused on the four other originals upstairs. Bella felt Henrik tense as the sounds of four pairs of footsteps began to come down the stairs. Klaus stood and moved to stand just a bit in front of Henrik and Bella.
Henrik stood and set Bella behind him slightly, the last thing he wanted was one of his siblings attacking his Belle. Bella didn’t say anything knowing it would make Henrik feel better if she stayed behind him. Instead she rested her hand on his back as an attempt to keep him calm. Bella watched as the four siblings entered the room.
Rebekah was the first to speak, “HOW DARE YOU?!”She yelled as soon as she saw Klaus.
Elijah put a hand on his sister’s shoulder, he looked to Klaus and then to Henrik. “What is this Niklaus?”
Henrik looked at his siblings, he paused as he met Kol’s gaze. They stared at one another and soon Elijah and the others looked to Henrik as well.
Kol tilted his head to the side, as he felt he knew the man, but he didn’t know how he knew him. “Who are you?” Kol questioned and the other’s attention fell to Henrik awaiting an answer.
“I’m really hurt you don’t recognize your own brother,” Henrik replied with a frown. “After how much you all claim family to be important to you, I would suspect for you to at the least remember my name.”
Bella moved and laced her fingers with Henrik, she could catch the real hurt in his voice that she was sure no one had caught onto.
“No.” Finn said as he was the first to come to understand what was being hinted at. “The real Henrik died long ago, you are not him.”
“I did die, and as I remember not shortly after my death you all became immortals and seemingly forgot about your human lives and about the brother you once had. I’m assuming you also all forgot what happens to supernatural creatures after their death.” Henrik replied.
“You were stuck on the other side,” Kol said staring at Henrik.
Elijah turned to Klaus. “Is this a trick? Are you using our dead brother’s name for your own benefit? The real Henrik wouldn’t have wanted his name to be used by another, especially not if it benefited you.”
Henrik growled, “How would you know what I want? It’s up to all of you whether or not to believe me. I came back from the other side over a decade ago.”
“No,” Elijah said, “Henrik would have looked for me, he would have come to his brother.”
Klaus scoffed, “That’s exactly what he did, he just chose to come to me instead of you.”
“The real Henrik would never chose you, you’re a monster and the one who killed him.” Elijah retorted in anger.
Henrik and Bella both growled in warning as they didn’t like hearing Klaus being called a monster. “I did go to my brother! I went to the ONE sibling that did not forget me, I went to the one sibling who would remembered his younger brother. I was on the other side for what felt like an eternity, I watched all of you for centuries, and not once did any of you think of me. Not once did you mourn for the brother you had, you all decided it was easier to forget me than to try and keep my memory alive.” Henrik stepped forward and moved to stand in front of Elijah. “I didn’t come to you because you forgot me. Do you really think I would go to you? You’re the worst of them all, Eli, with your so call morals towards your family, but yet it was so easy for you to betray your brother time and time again. It was so easy for you to proclaim yourself as the most humanitarian of them all, but you are nothing but a fake, Eli. You FORGOT me! I would never seek the help of a brother I no longer trusted.”
Elijah stiffened, Henrik had always been the only one to call him Eli. “Henrik…”
Henrik walked back and stood back at Bella’s side, he looked to Klaus. “Belle and I are going for a walk.”
Klaus nodded knowing his brother needed space to blow off some steam. He watched Henrik leave and returned Bella’s smile as she turned to look back at him to smile goodbye. Bella walked with Henrik’s hand in hers, she stayed silent as they made their way into the woods. “You can tell me. You don’t have to hide how you feel from me, Henri.”
Henrik paused he turned and stood in front of Bella, his eyes filled with an anger and sadness that Bella hated to see in him. “I’m angry, Belle.” Henrik paused and shook his head he walked over to a tree and hit it with his fist causing it to crack under his strength. “No, I’m more than just angry, Belle. They didn’t believe me! They completely forgot about me and when they see me again they still rather believe that I’m DEAD! I spent centuries watching over them, I never once stopped seeing them as my family, but it’s not the same for them. I stopped being there family the day I died, I was no longer important enough to be remembered as their brother. I don’t think I can do this, Belle. I don’t think I can go back in that house and try to be a family again. Just looking at them makes me want to plunge those daggers back into their hearts and lock them away so that I never have to face them again.”
Bella nodded, her eyes watered as she had never seen Henrik so hurt. “If you don’t want to go back, than we won’t. We’ll get a car and we’ll drive. We can go absolutely anywhere if you don’t want to stay here.” Bella cupped Henrik’s cheek, “But if you want to stay, I will be at your side. I’ll help you through this, and maybe eventually the anger will go away. I know it hurts, and I want to hurt them all for hurting you, but you and I both know you love them.”
Henrik took in a deep breath, he moved closer and wrapped his arms around Bella, he rested his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes. “I hate that I love them. I don’t want to go back, not now. I just want to be with you. I want it to be just you and me for a while, nothing else, no other problems, just you.”
“Then we won’t go back. We’ll stay here in the woods or we’ll go somewhere else, anywhere else.” Bella replied, she wrapped her arms tighter around Henrik. “I love you, I will always love you, Henri. I’ll be by your side through everything, we’ll get through this together, I promise.”
“I know, Belle.” Henrik said his voice low and broken as the last few minutes had been too much for him to handle.
Klaus watched his brother leave and once their footsteps could no longer be heard he turned to his siblings who had all been looking towards where Henrik had walked out. “I doubt he’ll be returning soon.” Klaus said catching his sibling’s attention.
“That was really Henrik?” Rebekah questioned as her eyes watered.
“How did he come back?” Finn asked Klaus.
“Who was the girl?” Kol asked as he believed it was Henrik, but he didn’t have any idea who the girl at his side had been.
“Yes, that was Henrik, and the woman at his side was Isabella, his wife.” Klaus said, he walked over to the mantel and grabbed a picture of Henrik and Bella’s wedding, he threw the picture at Kol who caught it effortlessly. “They married several years back, she was the reason he was able to come back to life.”
Elijah took the picture from Kol’s hands and looked at it. He saw Henrik with Bella pressed to his chest as they both looked towards the camera with bright smiles. What caught his attention though was Niklaus who stood at Henrik’s side with a genuine smile on him. “You were there?”
“Yes, I was there since close to the very beginning of his return.” Klaus replied, “Henrik contacted me not long after he came back to life.”
“Why would he contact you, but not me?” Elijah questioned as he handed the picture to his sister.
“Because he didn’t trust you, to be honest, he doesn’t trust any of you.” Klaus replied as he looked at each of his siblings. “The most important thing to Henrik, is his wife. When Henrik came back they were both still very much human, with the exception of Henrik and his magic. He contacted me because he trusted me not to harm her. Henrik will do anything to keep her safe and she will do the same in return.”
“How can he trust you?” Rebekah said with a glare towards her brother. “You’re deceiving and manipulative, I don’t understand how he can have so much trust in you.”
Klaus glared at his sister. “I didn’t mourn for him for just a few days and move on like the rest of you! I mourned for Henrik constantly. He watched us while we were alive, he knew all of you forgot about him, you all rather fool yourselves into believing he wasn’t real rather than face the truth and know that we lost a brother. Henrik trusts me because he knows I will always see him as my brother, he doesn’t believe any of you to be loyal enough for him to trust in you. I don’t blame him, I’d be surprised if our brother returns to the house. Let me explain something to you all that I’m clearly seeing you don’t understand. In the eyes of Henrik, you just rejected him, therefore further proving to him that maybe you aren’t his family after all.”
“It was just a big surprise,” Rebekah uttered, “We didn’t think it could be him. It just didn’t seem possible.”
“That does not matter to our brother, all that mattered was that you all saw him, but didn’t recognize him. You all seemed so against having him here, Henrik might be angry at being forgotten, but you were still his family and he was ready to be a family once again, but I’m not quite sure if it’s still that way anymore.” Klaus said, he looked back to where his brother had gone. He knew that his brother would most likely not return to the house anytime soon.
“Where will he go?” Elijah asked, “Will he return?”
Klaus nodded, “Henrik will return, Isabella loves this town, and sooner or later he’ll return with her. If he’ll speak to any of you once he returns is an entirely different thing.”
“What happened? I don’t understand how he came back to life.” Finn said.
Klaus sighed, “Take a seat, I’ll explain the best I can.”
Bella laughed as Henrik got into an argument with the salesman. Bella walked forward and put her arm around Henrik’s waist. “I don’t like this car too much, Henri. Is it really worth all the money?”
“If you don’t like the car, than I suppose it’s not worth it.” Henrik said as he looked down at Bella and put his arm around her shoulder.
The salesman saw Bella and Henrik turn around and get ready to leave. “I can lower the price.”
Henrik smirked and looked to Bella, “My wife will have to decide if it’s worth it.”
Bella smiled, “Well than, let’s negotiate.” Bella and Henrik followed the man into his office both wearing identical looking smiles.
Henrik smiled as he and Bella drove off of the dealership a 1965 Shelby Cobra now in their possession. He reached over and took Bella’s hand and kissed it. “Are you sure this is the care you wanted?”
Bella smiled, “Yeah, it’s kind of cool. Now, were are we going?”
Henrik shrugged, “Let’s see where we can drive to by nightfall. We’ll find something fun to do.”
Bella grinned, “Is this a ROAD TRIP!?” Bella laughed as she loved to hear Henrik laugh. “If this is going to be a real road trip, than we ‘re going to have to stop by a gas station soon and by some really bad food and really sugary drinks.”
“We’ll stop at the next gas station.” Henrik agreed, “Maybe we can go to somewhere with a beach.”
Bella smile widened, “And go deep see diving? Maybe even scare some tourist with my tail?”
“Yeah, that sounds perfect, we can start a real mess.” Henrik said with a grin, something about the idea of being with only his Belle had him smiling and forgetting his siblings completely.
Well, this chapter was a pain to write, but I finally got it how I wanted and I wanted to tell you all that I really like it. The next chapter I am thinking is going to be a lot of Henrik and Bella, with very little sibling drama added to it.
Tell me what you think, and I hope you enjoyed!
