Bella entered the lab, her heels clicking on the hard floor as she navigated her way through the equipment. She looked around the lab until her eyes met familiar brown ones, Ryan.

“Bella…” He said approaching her carefully. “What are you doing here?”

Bella took in a deep breath, “Can we talk somewhere more private?”

Ryan nodded and led the way to one of the interrogation rooms. “Are you okay?” He asked worried that something had happened to her in the last few days.

Bella nodded, “I came here because I think I finally figured out what’s been bothering you.”

Ryan rubbed the back of his neck, “I know I’ve been avoiding you lately, but with work…”

Bella shook her head and held up a hand to stop him from talking any further. “When I let it slip just how much I make you started acting strange. My bank account is apparently what’s bothering you. Does it really matter just how much I make?”

Ryan sighed and shook his head. “That’s not it, Bella. I’m just a little intimidated by you. You’re this amazing artist who can have any man she wants, and for some reason you’re seeing me.”

Bella scoffed, “Ryan. I’m with you for a lot of reasons.” Bella ran a hand through her hair in a frustrated motion. “I’m comfortable around you, Ryan. I want you to feel the same with me. I just came to tell you that I think I’m falling in love with you. And I don’t want you to end this because I happen to be a good artist and people with too much money like to buy them. The money never mattered to me and I don’t think it should matter to you.”

Bella moved to walk past him, but looked down at her arm as Ryan stopped her. “Ryan…” She whispered pleadingly.

“I’m being an asshole.” He responded quietly. “I don’t care how much money you make. I’m just being an idiot, who’s too insecure to see that I’m ruining things between us.” He tugged her closer to him and pressed their foreheads together. “I’m falling in love with you, Bella, and that’s terrifying.” Not saying a word, she closed the distance and kissed him, because he was an idiot, but he was hers and she wouldn’t let him get away so easily.
